🧠Does your child know what they need to do...but just can't seem to get started?

Maybe they struggle with focus, remembering instructions, organisation or managing big emotions.

Perhaps they already have an ADHD diagnosis - or perhaps you're one of the many families currently waiting for an assessment or wondering about ADHD. πŸ’š

I'm offering something a little different with one of my remaining spaces this term...

πŸŽ’MY ADHD TOOLKIT

A 4 week block of 1:1 sessions for primary aged children with diagnosed or suspected ADHD.

πŸ’œ Session 1 - My strengths
Getting to know your child, celebrating what they're good at and beginning to explore what makes their brain unique.

🧠 Session 2 - Understanding me
Exploring the things they find tricky and helping them understand some of the reasons why - in a positive, age-appropriate way.

πŸ’‘Session 3 - What helps my brain?
Trying practical strategies for things like getting started, focus, remembering, organisation and managing big feelings - and discovering what actually works for them.

πŸŽ’ Session 4 - My ADHD toolkit
Bringing everyting together and creating their own personalised toolkit of strategies they can take forward into everyday life.

ADHD support shouldn't be about telling children to 'sit still', 'concentrate' or 'try harder'. It's about helping them understand themselves, recognise their strengths and discover ways of doing things that work for their brain.

⭐ 4 x 30 minute individual sessions
⭐ Parent input before we begin
⭐ Personalised strategies and resources
⭐ Parent feedback at the end

πŸ•” Thursdays at 4.00pm in Countesthorpe, Leicestershire.
πŸ’· Β£145 for the complete 4 week programme.

ADHD is an area particularly close to my heart. I'm a qualified primary teacher and SENCO with 25 years experience in education, having previously delivered ADHD workshops and coaching as an Associate for ADHD Solutions, and I also bring lived experience of ADHD to my work.

☎️ Not sure whether it's right for your child? I'm offering a free 10 minute introductory phone call before you commit. You can tell me a little about your child, ask any questions and we can see whether the programme feels right for them.

I'm offering just one place initially. Send me a WhatsApp on 07967 371343 or send me a private message to arrange a call.

🎺A change of scenery for me tonight.

No teaching, tutoring or planning this evening - I'm on proud Mum duties, watching my daughter perform with the outstanding Youth Brass 2000. πŸ’œπŸŽ΅

β˜”οΈ It may have been rainy and miserable outside today, but the children at Kilby Primary School were all smiles for their first keyboard lessons back.

🎹 I spent the afternoon there teaching and had a great time catching up with the children about their summers.

I love the variety in my working week - tutoring, wellbeing sessions, ADHD coaching, training, parent support, and on days like today, making music 🎡

Definitely one of the perks of running my own business. Although I could have done without getting quite so soggy on my way in🀣

🎲 Can your child beat you at this?

A 5 minute maths game for you to try. Grab 2 dice and roll them.

βž•οΈ For an easy start, add the two numbers together. Play together and have a simple list of the numbers 2 - 12 each. Make it more competitive and take in turns. Who can cross off all the numbers first?

βœ–οΈ If your child is ready for more of a challenge, use the 2 dice and multiply the numbers together instead. This time, write down the total. Keep adding each total you get to the previous number. The closest to 50 is the winner.

Little games like this are a great way to practise number skills without it feeling like another piece of homework.

And the best bit...5 minutes is plenty. Even small bitesize practise opportunities like this can make a difference.😊

πŸ˜• For some children, anxiety might look like:
- a tummy ache before school
- getting cross over something that seems tiny
- suddenly not wanting to do something they usually enjoy
- needing lots of reassurance
- struggling to sleep
- becoming very quiet or withdrawn

Often, behaviour is a child's way of communicating something they don't yet have the words to explain. πŸ—£

❓️A question to try using is:
'If your worry could talk, what would it say?'

You don't have to immediately fix the worry. Sometimes being listened to and understood is exactly what a child needs. πŸ’œ

😬It's a big day for some of the young people I know and work with. Congratulations on all your results. I know there are those of you out there who have felt disappointment today. It's ok to feel that way, but know that you have time. You have options. You have achieved so much.

These results may mean you have to change your planned route in to the next chapter of your journey. That's ok.

πŸ’‘And even though I'm writing this about the teenagers, it also applies to the younger children I work with. For many of them, they need a 'different path' through education. And that's ok. It's ok that their route doesn't look the same as 'the majority'.

They can succeed, with the right support around them.

🎲 I often work with children with ADHD who love games, and sometimes a 'sit down at a table board game' just doesnt suit their needs.

I've just picked this bargain up off Vinted and am really looking forward to trying it out in some 1:1 sessions this week.

πŸƒMany children need to move whilst they play. They may find it difficult to stay seated, wait through long turns, or maintain attention when there's not enough physical or sensory input.

That's why this game caught my eye - Wibble, Wobble, Where? πŸ‘€ Lots of opportunities for movement whilst searching for matching pictures around a giant inflatable wobbling tower!!

I'll keep you posted with what the childrens' verdicts are this week πŸ‘πŸ»

πŸ’œ It's been so good to make it back to doing what I love this week. Balancing continued recovery from surgery whilst gently easing back in to summer sessions hasn't been easy but reconnecting with so many wonderful children has definitely motivated me to keep pushing forwards (albeit gently).

I'm definitely out of the habit of capturing moments πŸ“· with the amazing children to share with you all, as I've hardly taken any photos this week, but this week has included:

🎡 piano lessons
🌞 eclipse watching
🎨 creative wellbeing sessions
πŸ“– groups sessions at the local library
πŸ’» planning for the new term
🌻 primary tuition

Shared below are a few of the photos I did remember to take from my week.😁

πŸ˜‰ If you know, you know...

Yes the sexy stockings are a sign that my surgery went ahead yesterday. So now I'm confined to the sofa (something I'm already struggling with 🀣).

All went well apart from my disappointment as I came round in recovery that my examination under general anaesthetic with a list of 4 possible procedures I had to consent to, had resulted in the surgeon having to do the most invasive and the one which will mean the longest recovery.😞

As those of you who know me well will understand, some of my first thoughts were of the amazing children I support and those of you who have booked in summer sessions with me in the coming weeks. It disappoints me to let people down.

Being self-employed and facing time off from work is tough. I need to recover, but the bills also dont stop coming. With this in mind, im going to take full advantage of the flexibility being self-employed gives me. This will mean that I ask for your patience and understanding over the coming weeks. I have to find the balance between recovery time and keeping afloat (as well as, of course, making sure I provide consistent support for your children).

πŸ“† I may need to ask to rearrange your childs session, I may need to reduce the longer sessions, but... I know some of you will, with your kind hearts, say you dont mind cancelling. This is where I need to ask for your help. If I can rearrange (and ask you to look carefully at alternative dates in your busy summer schedules) I really need to for financial reasons. Summer is quieter for me anyway so I need your support more than ever please.

I will be in touch individually with those of you who have booked sessions in the next 2 weeks to let you know if I need to make any changes.πŸ“²
