Our Year 6 children explored the beautiful relationship between art and mathematics.

Working alongside the brilliant Mrs Gilkes, they have been using iPads and digital styluses to create some truly fantastic pieces of digital art. The project was a wonderful way to explore the concept of lines of symmetry, resulting in some incredibly vibrant, complex, and perfectly balanced kaleidoscopic designs!

It was wonderful to see how focused and creative our Year 6s were as they experimented with different colours, shapes, and brush styles to bring their symmetrical patterns to life.

⏰ It’s time for Fox Class to show off their amazing clock-reading skills!

Our lovely Year 1s have had so much fun learning all about telling the time this term. We’ve been using our teaching clocks to figure out where the hour and minute hands need to point, and we are getting so good at spotting "o'clock" and "half past"!

It was so lovely watching everyone celebrate when they got it right and proud smiles all round. 🦊🌟

🎭 The Island That Rocked! 🎸

Wow, what an absolute triumph! This week, our incredible Class of 2026 children took to the stage to perform 'The Island That Rocked' for the school and their families, and they completely blew us all away! 🌟

We are immensely proud of their hard work, dedication, and sheer talent. Every single child truly shone in their part.

A production like this takes a village, and we have so many people to thank:

🏝️ Our Year 5s: For being fantastic islanders and providing a brilliant choir.

πŸ› οΈ The Stage & Tech Crew: For keeping everything running smoothly behind the scenes.

🎨 Scenery & Props Team: For making the stage look so magical.

πŸ‘• Our Parents & Carers: For your amazing efforts with the fantastic costumes!

❀️ A special Thank You to Mrs Doe, not only for directing and choreographing a spectacular show, but for her endless support and encouragement. Thank you for helping every child fulfil their potential, both on and off the stage.

What a memorable week. Well done, everyone! πŸ‘πŸ‘

Our Year 5s had a fantastic taster day at The Corsham School! They became scientists measuring energy levels in crisps πŸ”¬, analysed a clip of Paddington in Media Studies 🎬, and got the inside track during a Q&A with past pupils πŸ’¬.

Thank you for having us! The Corsham School

🏺 What did the Romans use for light? Mason Class found out! πŸ’‘

For our Term 6 Wow Day, Mason Class traveled back in time to explore Roman history! Mrs Gilks kicked things off by explaining how the Romans made lamps out of terracotta, filled them with olive oil, and added a wick so they could have light long after the sun went down.

The children then rolled up their sleeves to become Roman potters themselves, crafting their very own clay lamps using authentic techniques:

πŸ‘ They rolled the clay into a ball and used their fingers to create a hollow.

🏺 They pulled the pot into an oval shape, created a lid and a handle, and used slip with a rough edge to join them securely together.

✨ Finally, they decorated their lamps with beautiful patterns!

What a brilliant, hands-on way to bring history to life. Fantastic work, Mason Class! 🌟

🌟 What a fantastic, creative morning for Turner Class! 🌟

We were absolutely delighted to welcome Marnie from Story Townβ€”run by Corsham Town Councilβ€”alongside the brilliant author Emily Randall-Jones, for an incredible storytelling workshop! πŸ“šβœ¨

Together, we shared some of our absolute favourite stories and live readings from Emily's books before diving into a brilliant creative exercise. The children learned how to map out their very own tales using just the outline of their hands! βœ‹πŸ“

πŸ“ The Palm: The setting or location of the story.

πŸ‘€ The Fingers: Breaking down the character arc/journey, the character we are following and the baddie, what the character wants, what they need, and the main challenge they face!

Thank you so much to Marnie, Emily, and Corsham Town Council for inspiring our young writers. The creativity in the room was amazing!

Fox and Dickens class were visited by PC Redmond to talk about people who help us in our community.

The children loved listening to all of the ways in which the police help us and learnt what to do in an emergency.

Some children had the opportunity to try on some of the police uniform and even got to look inside a police car!
