There's no place like Heywood!

Year 4 took us over the rainbow with their fantastic performances, bringing this much loved story to life and entertaining us with confidence, enthusiasm and plenty of character.

Well done, Year 4 - we are very proud of you!

With huge pride (and just a touch of sadness), we say goodbye to our wonderful Year 6 children today.

As they share their farewell video, we celebrate everything they have achieved during their time with us. While we will miss their smiling faces around school, we are so proud of the individuals they have become.

We wish them every success and happiness in their next chapter.

We are delighted to share that Gareth Edwards will become Head of Heywood Prep from January 2027.

Gareth has been at the heart of life at Heywood for 7 years, championing a simple but powerful idea: children shouldn’t have to choose between interests. From Maths to Drama, Science to storytelling, he has helped nurture a culture where curiosity is encouraged, and where pupils are given space to explore widely and deeply.

We are proud of what he has already helped to build here, and we are very much looking forward to the next chapter with him leading the school forward.

On Wednesday, Years 5 and 6 enjoyed an incredible morning at the Town Hall as part of the Corsham StoryTown event.

They explored myths, ghosts and the uncanny in a storytelling workshop led by theatre practitioner and writers Marnie Forbes-Eldridge and Emily Randall-Jones. The children created their own imaginative stories, which will be featured in a local exhibition for parents and carers to view.

With thanks to Marnie and Emily for leading such an inspiring session.

⭐This year, our Year 6 pupils have once again achieved outstanding outcomes.⭐

Every child has secured a place at their chosen senior school, a reflection of their hard work and determination.

We are also delighted that over half of the cohort have been awarded scholarships and awards, recognising strengths across academics, sport, art, and drama.

We are incredibly proud of all of our Year 6 pupils, and it is a real joy to watch them leave Heywood happy, confident, and so well prepared for their future ahead.

We are incredibly proud of all the children who took part in the national "If You Were an Engineer, What Would You Do?" competition, showcasing their creativity, innovation and problem-solving skills alongside children from across the UK.

A special congratulations goes to the children pictured, who achieved a Distinction for their entries – a fantastic achievement!

Every child who entered represented the school brilliantly, and we are delighted to celebrate the enthusiasm, imagination and hard work shown by all involved. Well done, everyone!

🌞 Summer Fun was a fantastic success once again! The inflatable games went down brilliantly with the children, and there were plenty of happy faces enjoying the ice cream and treats.

The soaking-the-teachers station was, unsurprisingly, a firm favourite with lots of laughter!

A huge thank you to our Parent Association, Friends of Heywood, for organising such a wonderful event for the whole school community!
