His First Wheelchair ❤️

For so long, his mama had to carry him everywhere.
Every journey. Every day.

Today, something changed. ❤️

Today, he received his very first wheelchair.

A wheelchair may seem like a simple gift, but for this beautiful family, it means mobility, independence, opportunity — and a whole new world opening up. 🌎❤️

This is why we do what we do.

Because every child deserves the chance to move through the world, to explore, to be included.

Today, we didn’t just give him a wheelchair.

We gave him and his Mama hope. 🦽❤️

Looking back… 💛

From the first walls going up to the finished bathroom — what a journey!

Our amazing volunteers got stuck in, got tired, got messy, laughed, created and kept going. Along the way, they also shared precious moments with our children, families and team.

More than a bathroom, they’ve created a space filled with dignity, love and care.

We are so proud of every one of you. ❤️🇵🇪

This is what volunteering looks like.

Reflecting on Peru 💛

As our time in Peru comes to an end, a couple of our volunteers share some of their highlights from their time with Kiya.

From special moments with the children and families, to unexpected connections, new experiences and memories that will stay with them long after they return home…

Every volunteer takes something different from their time here — but one thing is always the same: Peru stays with you. 🇵🇪❤️

And if this has inspired you, we are now recruiting for our 2027 and 2028 Family Volunteer Programmes.

With only up to three families per trip, these programmes are intentionally small, personal and immersive — giving families the chance to experience Kiya, connect with our children and families, get involved in our work and discover Peru in a very special way.

✨ Could 2027 or 2028 be your year to join us?

It’s a wrap! Team Peru 2026 has come to an end 🥹✨

What an amazing few weeks spent with these absolute legends! An incredible group of people who have left me feeling grateful, supported, inspired and even more determined to keep on keeping on.

The connections. The laughter. The challenges. The little moments and the big ones. So many memories that will stay in our hearts for a very, very long time. ❤️

Team Peru 2026 — you were the BEST! 🇵🇪

Thank you for showing up, giving so much, embracing every moment and becoming part of the Kiya family.

This may be the end of this particular journey but in some ways, it’s just the beginning! Until next time… ✨

A few words from some of the incredible kids on our Family Programme. 💛

Their smiles, their laughter and their stories say more than we ever could.

Every moment shared. Every activity. Every connection made. It all matters. ❤️

Hearing things through their eyes reminds us why we do what we do — and why creating these moments of joy, connection and opportunity is so important.

Thank you to everyone who helps make these experiences possible. Your support reaches further than you know. 🙏🏻💛

Big thanks to for leading the early morning yoga and meditation sessions .mancora for the volunteers the last couple of weeks.

It’s been such a support and a beautiful moment in our days to focus on our own well-being and gather energy to allow us to keep giving.

Our last session today, looking out over the Pacific Ocean watching the whales play, the pelicans graze the surface of the big blue and listening to the sound of the waves…. a deep sense of gratitude came over us as we reflected on the adventures, learnings and experiences of the programme.

Namaste 🧘🙏🏻

What a day! 💛

Last day… and the best day.

After a 6am start with yoga to prepare us for the long day ahead, we headed into Mama Cocha for the last time!

We all came together to finish the murals, put up shelves, make sensory books, FINISH THE BATHROOM BUILD, clean the centre — and somewhere amidst all that, managed to launch our new equine therapy programme with our new partners AND then celebrated our incredible volunteers with a very special certificate ceremony. 🥹

There were emotional speeches, lots of tears, laughter, hugs and some very heartfelt words shared between the team, families and volunteers. Moments that we will carry with us long after we leave.

We also got to gift the 2 wheelchairs the team
Fundraised for and see Zaid and Lian use them for the first time! Words cannot describe these moments!

We are absolutely exhausted… but could not be prouder.

So much has been achieved, so many connections made, and so many little things that will make a big difference to the children and families we work with.

What a team. What a week. What a privilege. 💛

Leaving with very full hearts — and already knowing we’ll miss this place terribly.

Thank you, Mama Cocha. Thank you team. Thank you families. Thank you children! Until next time… 🇵🇪🐴💛

Thank you — from our hearts. 🙏🏻

You are so very welcome.

We are grateful for every hour, every brush of paint on the wall, every smile, every conversation, every moment you give.

Your “little” help is anything but little. It has already made, and will continue to make, a huge impact on our community. 🌿❤️

Sometimes we don’t get to see just how far a small act of kindness reaches.

But we do.

And we are so incredibly grateful.

Thank you, Siobhan. Thank you to every volunteer who gives a little of themselves to help us create something bigger. ❤️

Team Peru 2026. You are AMAZING!!

So deeply proud of Tom and the whole team on the bathroom build. ❤️

It’s not easy working out here. The heat. The dust. The exhaustion. The emotion. The hard, physical labour. And yet, day after day, they keep going.

They’re doing it completely selflessly — giving their time, their energy and so much of themselves to make a real difference to a family who desperately needs it.

There really are no words.

Just thank you. 🙏🏻❤️

Thank you for showing up. Thank you for carrying on when it’s hard. Thank you for giving so much.

You’re incredible. And what you’re building will mean so much more than just four walls and a roof. 🥹❤️

❤️ Meet Sofía & her incredible mum, Paula ❤️

Sofía has cerebral palsy, and regular facial massages and speech therapy are vital to supporting her development. Seeing the progress she is making is truly amazing.

Thanks to her ongoing therapy, Sofía can now eat with much more ease and control, and she no longer dribbles — a huge milestone made possible through patience, hard work and consistent therapy. 🥹❤️

Some of the volunteers were invited in to Sofias hone to learn about the therapy and help with some of the basic treatment. Moments of learning and connection 🫶🏻

Behind Sofía is her incredible mum, Paula. She is devoted, hardworking and always doing everything she can to support her daughter. But Paula is also incredibly talented and creative — and we’re so proud to see her skills being given an opportunity too.

Right now, Paula is hand-making beautiful tote bags that our volunteer team have ordered. 🧵👜 Each one is made with love, skill and purpose.

This is what Mama Cocha is about: supporting the whole family, celebrating abilities, creating opportunities and helping families build a brighter future. ❤️

We are so lucky to know Sofía and Paula. 🌿
