🎨✨ The Benefits of Creative Messy Play for Toddlers ✨🎨
Creative messy play is a fantastic way for toddlers to learn through hands-on exploration while having lots of fun! 🌈🖌️
Some of the many benefits include:
🖐️ Develops fine motor skills – Painting, squeezing, splashing, and spreading materials helps strengthen the small muscles in children’s hands and fingers, preparing them for future writing skills.
🎨 Encourages creativity and imagination – Toddlers can freely explore colours, textures, and materials, expressing themselves in their own unique way.
💬 Supports communication and language – Talking about what they are making, the colours they see, and how different materials feel helps to build vocabulary.
🧠 Promotes problem-solving – Children experiment with different materials and discover what happens when they mix, spread, or layer them.
👀 Explores the senses – Messy play encourages children to investigate different textures, colours, and sensations, supporting sensory development.
🤝 Builds confidence and independence – Having the freedom to explore and create without worrying about a “right” or “wrong” outcome helps children develop confidence in their own ideas.
😊 Supports emotional wellbeing – Creative play can be calming, enjoyable, and a great way for children to express their feelings.

🦕🔢 Dino Counting Fun in the Garden! 🌿☀️
This week our toddlers enjoyed a wonderful group activity outdoors as they explored a colourful counting dinosaur book! 📚🦖
The children each had their own toy dinosaurs to match with the story, helping them to bring the book to life through hands-on learning. Together with their teacher, they carefully counted the dinosaurs and proudly counted all the way to 5! 👏
Activities like this help children develop early mathematical skills, build confidence with numbers, strengthen listening and attention, and encourage turn-taking within a group. It was lovely to see everyone joining in, using their counting voices, and celebrating their success together! 🥰
What a roarsome way to learn! 🦕💚

🥄🌾 Scoop, Transfer, and Learn! 🌾🥄
Our toddlers had lots of fun today exploring rice using small spoons and bowls! 😊
The children carefully scooped the rice from a tray and transferred it into their bowls, showing growing control and coordination in their movements. This hands-on activity encouraged them to concentrate, persevere with challenges, and develop the strength needed for everyday tasks and early mark-making. ✨
As they explored filling, emptying, and transporting the rice, the children demonstrated increasing confidence in using one-handed tools and refining their hand movements with greater accuracy. 🥣💪
There were lots of smiles, focused faces, and proud moments as the children practised these important skills through play! 🌟
Well done, Toddlers! 💙👏
