Working At The Phone Shop! 📞📱☎️

The theme of this month is ‘Numbers, Colours & Shapes’ and some of the biggies got involved in an activity exploring numbers by pretending to work at a phone shop and trying out the different types of phones we had available such as the plush mobiles, light up phones and a large phone made out of paper plates! 📞📱☎️

The children immediately got stuck into this activity and happily took turns at being the shopkeeper and shared the different types of phones! HH and OW checked out who to call using the phone book with a whole list of phone numbers for Daddy Bear to Rapunzel! They then decided to ring the Police by dialing 999 and attempted to whisk me off to jail before taking a celebratory selfie! 👮‍♀️🚨😤

HP and EY then explored the large phone and had a go at recognising the different numbers and putting them in the right sequence. We joked around about calling Old Lady Smelly Fingers but HH said he would have to call the police again if she came to nursery! 🚓🤪🧙

WBE started off as the shopkeeper and helped everyone find their dream phone, then came over to the large phone already on a very important call and helped others to recognise the different numbers! 🔢

HHo, AN and OJ used their phones to call their Mummy’s and Daddy’s, AN saying that his Daddy, “Is at work”, HH saying her, “Mummy and Wynter were at the park”, and OJ saying, “Daddy’s gone shopping”. 🗒️🛝🛍️

It was so lovely watching the children getting so engrossed in this activity and coming up with such fun ideas to tell each other! 🤩❤️

💦🔤 Fishing Out Letters From The Water Tray! 🔤💦

Today at nursery, we have been doing our best to keep ourselves cool during this scorcher of a day! This includes taking little breaks from the sunshine in the cool indoors, drinking plenty of water and getting involved in lots of water play! 💦😁☀️

I set out the water tray with letters, tweezers and magnifying glasses for the children to come and explore the different letters they knew and more for them to learn! WBE, HP, OW, FD and HH were already very confident in recognising the initial letters in their names and went on a hunt for the other letters! MS, TRG, MM, and EY were really eager to find their letters too, and with the help of their friends they were able to do just that! 🥰👀

HH and HP showed off their letters and recognised that these were the same! HP then found the letter ‘O’ and said, “OW, this is your letter”, and handed this to her. FD found the letter ‘F’ and said, “It’s F for me!”. OW was searching the water for her letters after finding the letter ‘O’ so that she could try and spell her name. WBE found the letter ‘M’ and ‘W’ recognising that ‘W’ was her letter and then handed MS the letter ‘M’ which got MS really excited as she showed her letter off to her friends! HH tried to use the magnifying glass to scoop up the different letters and showed these off too! 🔍

MM and EY kept fishing out different letters and said, “Look”, as they waited for me to tell them what it was! MM and MS giggled when I said they both shared the same letter and MS said, “MM, it’s for you!”. WBE then found the letter ‘J’ saying, “That’s my Daddy’s letter…Where’s ‘L’ for my Mummy?’. 🤔

WBE, OW, HP and FD then used the letters they found and needed for their names and spelled them out with each others help! We realised that we didn’t have enough ‘I’s’ for WBE and OW, so the girls worked together and took turns spelling their names. TRG heard us talking about needed two letter ‘D’s’ for FD’s name and said, “Here you go”, as he handed these to FD! 🔤🤩

I was so impressed with the children and their kindness when helping each other search for their friends letters! 🥰❤️

🧽🫧🚗 Working At The Car Wash! 🚗🫧🧽

Today, the littlies and biggies had lots of fun in the sun helping to wash Sarah’s car! We used the fences to create a safe space for the children to wander outside of nursery and use their sponges in the water tray to get cleaning! 🧽

As we were washing away, we spoke about the cars we have at home, the parts of the cars we were washing and even noticing some recognisable letters and numbers on the number plate! 🫧🔢

The children were working fantastically as a team to reach every nook and cranny of the car and received plenty of compliments and job requests from those passing by 🤣 And they all listened so well to the instructions given, especially when it came to road safety rules as we noticed some different cars, vans and lorries driving nearby! 👀🚛

✏️📚SCHOOL PLACEMENTS 2026📚✏️

It’s a bittersweet moment posting about our school leavers as it’s going to be such an exciting adventure to look forward to but as their time at nursery comes to an end, all we can think about is how quickly their journey with us has flew by! 🥲

Today, you should have heard back about your child’s school placement! We would love for you to contact us through email to let us know about which school your child has been allocated ☺️ This will help us complete the final steps of their transition documents but also work alongside their schools to prepare them for their transition! 🙌❤️

We hope everyone receives the school placement they hoped for and remember, if you have any questions or concerns, please come to nursery and speak with us so we can support you with this! ☺️❤️

🐝☀️ Caring For The Poorly Bumblebee! ☀️🐝

Last week during garden play, we noticed a large bumblebee flying around and starting to slow down before perching itself on the fence. I explained to the children that the bumblebee looked quite tired and didn’t have much energy as it slowed down so much, and we decided to try and help it feel better! ❤️‍🩹

FD, MH, AN and HH noticed the bee on the fence and helped me to get different resources needed, such as a mini plate, spoon and the grown ups helped us get some sugar water! I then helped the bee hop from the fence to the plate and took it over to the sunshine to warm it up! 🐝☀️

The children gathered round and noticed the shadows they casted were getting in the way of the bee and politely asked each other to move out of the way to let the sun through. We watched carefully and quietly as the bee took some sips of the sugary water and started to move around slowly and carefully! JM became very interested in the bee and laid beside it offering it flowers and HP warned her friends to be careful around the bee! 🌷🐝

When the bee got more energy, the children spoke about how it liked certain children because it was moving in their direction and then pretended to be scared and ran away! WBE shouted, “Run!”, and AB, LM, DS, RM, ASF, FD and JM and others ran away then quickly ran back to check on how the bee was doing! 🤭

Luckily, the bee made a full recovery and flew over the fence ready for his next adventure thanks to everyone with their love and support! 🥲

Well done, everyone! ❤️
