⭐️What an absolutely fantastic evening we had at our Red Kite Leavers Prom!
Our pupils made us all so proud it was truly fantastic to share this special evening with our wonderful families ⭐️

Okay thank you for your patience whilst we confirmed when and where the venue will be taking place we are happy to announce that our stay and play sessions will be held at the very much loved crescents community centre every Thursday from 10am-11am in the school holidays. If you are unfamiliar with the centre there is parking , local shops near by and a small park next to the centre. Naomi and Sarah will be at the door ready to great you and your familys for some messy fun , a chat / cuppa ! And most of all to support you in anyway we can. We look forward to seeing you all please feel free to share this up to date post/advertisement with your friends and family these sessions are for ages 3-11 years. We offer a discount bundle price for childminders 10 pound for 5 children or 2 pound a child and sibling discount is also 2 pounds. At the moment its turn up on the day but we have been fully blown away by all the followers we have had and we are looking into a booking system ( if arrange a booking system will walk you through it and keep you posted ). Cash on the door only.

🌞 𝗕𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝘁: 𝗞𝗲𝗲𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗻 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗦𝗘𝗡𝗗 𝗦𝗮𝗳𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗛𝗼𝘁 𝗪𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 🌞

Hot weather can be especially challenging for children with SEND. Here are some simple, practical tips to help keep them safe, comfortable, and happy during the heat:

💧 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘆 𝗵𝘆𝗱𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱
Offer drinks regularly, even if they don’t ask. Use visual cues, favourite cups, or timers to encourage frequent sips throughout the day. Ice can also be a helpful sensory option. Try ice cubes to hold, crunch, or add to drinks.

🧴 𝗦𝘂𝗻 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻
Apply high-factor sunscreen (SPF 30+), and reapply often. Sunglasses and wide-brimmed hats can also help reduce sensory discomfort while protecting skin and eyes.

🏠 𝗖𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗮 𝗰𝗼𝗼𝗹, 𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗺 𝘀𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗲
Keep rooms shaded with curtains or blinds, and use fans where possible. A quiet, low-stimulation area can help children who are more sensitive to heat.

👕 𝗗𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘁
Choose loose, lightweight clothing made from breathable fabrics like cotton to help regulate body temperature.

🕒 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀
Avoid outdoor play during peak heat (11am–3pm). Opt for early mornings or late afternoons, and consider indoor or water-based activities.

🧊 𝗨𝘀𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗶𝗱𝘀
Cooling towels, sprays, or even a damp flannel can provide quick relief. Some children may enjoy sensory-friendly options like paddling pools, and splash play.

🧠 𝗪𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀
Children with SEND may not always communicate how they feel, so look out for signs like fatigue, irritability, headaches, or changes in behaviour.

💬 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲
Use social stories, visual timetables, or clear explanations to help children understand changes to routines due to the heat.

We are monitoring the temperature around school very closely and making adjustments as and when needed.
