🏫 Welcome Back 🏫

We are looking forward to welcoming all of our pupils and families back for the 2026/2027 school year on Tuesday 1st September. 🎒

As we prepare to begin a new school year, we do so with a great deal of sadness following the recent loss of our much-loved teacher and colleague, Mrs Martina Coyle. Our thoughts continue to be with Martina’s family, friends, colleagues and all those who knew and loved her. ❤️

Martina will be greatly missed, and her loss will be felt deeply throughout our school community. As we come back together, we will continue to support one another with kindness, compassion and care, while remembering the very special place she held within our school family.

We are especially looking forward to welcoming our new Primary 1 pupils as they begin their exciting journey with us. We know there may be a few butterflies as they take their first steps into school life, and we can't wait to help them settle in, make new friends and feel part of our school family. 🌟

To all of our returning pupils, we are so looking forward to seeing you again. We hope you've had a lovely summer and are ready to begin another school year together. 😊

A new school year brings new opportunities to learn, grow, build friendships, develop confidence and celebrate achievements. We look forward to working closely with our pupils, parents and carers to ensure that every child feels happy, valued, supported and encouraged to reach their full potential.

As we begin this new chapter together, we will look after one another, remember Martina and continue to be the caring school community we are so proud to be.

It is with profound and deep sadness that we share with our school family and wider community the news of the passing of our very dear friend, colleague and beloved teacher, Mrs Martina Coyle.

Martina was a long-serving and much-loved member of the Lissan school community. Throughout her many years at Lissan, her warmth, kindness, dedication and gentle spirit touched the lives of countless pupils, families and colleagues. She gave so much to our school, and her loss will be deeply felt by us all.

We extend our deepest sympathy and heartfelt condolences to Martina’s husband, Cormac, her children, Rebecca, Mark, Erin, Ella and Adam, her son-in-law, Mark, her grandson Ollie, her mum and dad, Patrick and Teresa, her brothers Damien and Gary, her sister Kate, and all of her wider family and loved ones at this profoundly difficult time.

As a school family, we hold them all in our thoughts and prayers as they grieve this heartbreaking loss.

May her gentle soul rest safe in the arms of Jesus.

As we reach the end of another fantastic school year, the staff of Lissan Primary School would like to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who has helped make this year so special. ❤️

To our wonderful pupils - thank you for your enthusiasm, kindness, resilience, and the joy you bring to our school every single day. Watching you learn, grow, and achieve has been a privilege, and we are incredibly proud of each and every one of you. ⭐📚

To our parents, carers, families, and the wider school community - thank you for your continued support, encouragement, and partnership throughout the year. Your involvement and commitment play such an important role in the success of our school, and we truly appreciate everything you do. 🤝💙

A sincere thank you also goes to our Board of Governors, volunteers, and everyone who has supported school events and activities throughout the year. Your generosity, time, and encouragement have helped create so many wonderful opportunities for our pupils. 💛

🌿 Growing our Outdoor Learning Environment 🌿

This term, we have been delighted to see our outdoor learning environment continue to evolve, creating even more opportunities for our children to learn, explore and thrive through play.

Our newest additions include:
🛠️ Construction World – encouraging creativity, teamwork, problem-solving and imaginative thinking.
🎶 Music Wall – providing opportunities for self-expression, communication and exploring sound and rhythm.
💧 Water Wall – inspiring curiosity, investigation and early scientific thinking through hands-on exploration.

These exciting spaces support our children’s learning across the curriculum, helping them to develop confidence, resilience, creativity and a love of learning while enjoying the many benefits of being outdoors.

As we continue to develop our outdoor learning environment, we look forward to creating even more engaging spaces that inspire curiosity, collaboration and meaningful learning experiences for every child.

🥉 We're delighted to have achieved our Bronze Active Travel School Award! 🚶‍♀️🚴‍♂️🛴

Lissan Primary School is proud to have been awarded the Bronze Active Travel School Award by Walk Wheel Cycle Trust Northern Ireland! 🎉

This award recognises our commitment to encouraging pupils to walk, wheel, cycle and scoot to school, promoting healthier lifestyles while helping to protect our environment.

A huge thank you to our pupils, families and staff for embracing our Active Travel initiatives throughout the year. Your support has made this achievement possible.

A special thank you to Donna from Walk Wheel Cycle Trust for all of her help, encouragement and support throughout the year. We are so grateful for your guidance in helping us achieve this award.

As we reach the end of the 2025/2026 academic year, we would like to thank our fantastic Digital Leaders, Eco Team, and School Council for their hard work and dedication throughout the year.

Your commitment, leadership, and enthusiasm have made a real difference to our school community. Whether supporting digital learning, promoting sustainability, or representing the voices of your peers, you have been excellent role models.
