📏 Measuring Up for Maths Week! 🔢

P3 have been enjoying a hands-on maths investigation as part of Maths Week! 🌟

Using metre sticks, the children explored length and measurement by measuring a variety of objects around the classroom. They made estimates before measuring, checked their answers and compared the lengths of different objects. 📐

Working together, they developed their understanding of metres and centimetres while using practical maths skills to solve problems and investigate the world around them.

It was fantastic to see so much enthusiasm, teamwork and mathematical thinking in action! 👏

🎨 Life-Sized Portraits! 🎨

As part of our Marvellous Me topic, our Primary 1 children had lots of fun creating their very own life-sized portraits! 🌟

Working together, the children carefully drew around each other before adding details to create their own giant self-portraits. 🖍️🧑‍🎨

It was wonderful to see their personalities shine through as they added hair, clothes, colours and all the little details that make each of them unique. 💕🌈

A fantastic celebration of our Marvellous Me theme and our wonderful P1 children! ⭐️

💚👶 Roots of Empathy – Meeting the Baby 👶💚

Our Primary 2/3 children were delighted to begin their Roots of Empathy journey with our wonderful Tiny Teacher, Sarah, and her lovely mum, Rosaleen, alongside our Roots of Empathy instructor, Maeve. 🥰

During Theme 1: Meeting the Baby, the children had the opportunity to meet Sarah and begin learning about her world, exploring what babies need to grow, develop and feel loved and cared for. 💕

Through these special visits, the children will follow Sarah’s development over the coming months, learning to recognise feelings, understand others’ perspectives and develop empathy, kindness and compassion.

We are looking forward to sharing this special journey with Sarah and Rosaleen and seeing all the wonderful learning that takes place along the way! 💚

🔢 Maths Week: Pattern Detectives! 🌟

Our Primary 1 children have been putting on their pattern detective hats as they explored the wonderful world of patterns! 🕵️‍♀️🕵️‍♂️

Using colours, shapes and everyday classroom objects, the children enjoyed making, copying and continuing repeating patterns. They had to look carefully, spot what was changing and work out what should come next. 👀🧩

The children also had lots of fun creating their own patterns and challenging their friends to spot the rule and continue them. There was plenty of great mathematical thinking, discussion and teamwork along the way! 🤝✨

We discovered that patterns can be found everywhere around us – and once you start looking, they are hard to miss! 🌈🔴🟡🔵

What a fantastic way for P1 to develop their early maths skills while having lots of fun! 💛👏

Well done to our PATHS Pupils of the Week! ⭐ It has been wonderful to see our children demonstrating kindness, respect, resilience and positivity throughout the week.

From supporting their friends and including others to using kind words, showing empathy and making positive choices, our pupils continue to put our PATHS values into action every day. 🤝✨

We are so proud of the way they help make Lissan a happy, caring and welcoming place where everyone feels valued and included. 💛

🌍♻️ Waste Busters Visit Lissan Primary School! ♻️🌍

What a fantastic afternoon we had when the Lyric Theatre Belfast’s Creative Learning Department brought their high-energy Waste Busters Eco-Musical to our school! 🎭✨

Our children were entertained from start to finish while learning some very important messages about recycling, reducing litter and tackling plastic pollution. 🌱🌎

Through music, fun and plenty of energy, Waste Busters showed us that small changes can make a BIG difference! 💚

A huge thank you to the team from the Lyric Theatre for such an engaging and memorable performance. Our children absolutely loved it! 👏🎶

😊🏃‍♀️ Miles of Smiles in P4/5! 🏃‍♂️🌟

The boys and girls in P4/5 are enjoying taking part in their Daily Mile, getting out and about and keeping active together! 👟💨

It’s a great way to get moving, enjoy some fresh air and spend time together as a class. 🌳😊

They’re building healthy habits, staying active and making every mile a little more fun! 💪❤️

🦠✨ The Glitter Challenge! ✨👐

Our young scientists had lots of fun with a sparkly investigation to explore how easily tiny particles can spread from one person to another! 🔬✨

Using glitter, we could see how quickly it transferred between hands and surfaces. We then talked about the importance of washing our hands properly to help keep ourselves and others healthy. 🧼💦

A fun, hands-on way to bring our World Around Us learning to life! 🌟👏

🎲🔤 Listen, Learn & Play! 🔤🎲

Our P2 pupils have been putting their phonics skills into practice through a fun game of Phonics Bingo! 🌟

The children listened carefully to the sounds and words being called, recognised them on their bingo cards and covered them as they went. It was a great opportunity to reinforce our phonics learning while developing listening, concentration and word recognition skills. 📚👂

There was lots of excitement, enthusiasm and careful listening as everyone waited to see if they could complete a line - with plenty of happy “BINGO!” calls along the way! 🎉👏

A fun way to practise our phonics, learn together and enjoy our learning! 💙✨

We are delighted to introduce our new team of Digital Leaders for the 2026/2027 school year! 🎉👏

Our Digital Leaders have an important role to play in helping to promote safe, responsible, creative and positive use of technology across our school. 📱💡

Throughout the year, they will develop their own digital skills while also supporting other pupils, sharing their knowledge and helping teachers and children to make the most of technology in our learning. 🚀🖥️

They will also help to raise awareness of online safety and encourage everyone to be smart, kind and responsible when using digital technology. 🔐❤️

We are very proud of our Digital Leaders and look forward to seeing them lead, learn, support and inspire throughout the year! 🌟
