🌟 A Huge Thank You to Nick Watson! 🌟

Today, we were delighted to welcome Nick Watson to Ysgol Porth y Felin, where he shared his inspiring experiences of taking part in the incredible Dragon's Back Race.

Nick spoke passionately about the challenges, determination, resilience and mental strength required to complete one of the world's toughest mountain races. Our pupils were captivated by his stories and gained a real insight into the importance of perseverance, setting goals and believing in yourself. Thank you, Nick, for taking the time to visit us and inspire our learners.

As many of you know, Ysgol Porth y Felin has a strong connection with the Dragon's Back Race, with the school once again being used as an important hub for event registration and organisation. We are proud to play a part in welcoming competitors from across the UK and beyond to our local area.

We would like to invite our school community to Conwy Castle on Monday morning to witness the start of this remarkable event.

📍 Location: Conwy Castle
🕠 From: 5:30am onwards
🏁 Race Start: 6:00am

This is a fantastic opportunity to support the competitors as they begin their extraordinary journey across Wales and to celebrate an event that has strong links with our school and local community.

Let's give the runners a memorable send-off and show them the warmth and support that Conwy and Ysgol Porth y Felin are known for.

We are incredibly proud to celebrate one of our dedicated and hard working teachers,Mrs Bloor, who was selected to present at The National Support Programme for Curriculum and Assessment Design event for the Welsh Government this week.
Mrs Bloor showcased the valuable and pioneering work taking place in our school as we continue to develop our school Curriculum. Her presentation highlighted our innovative approach to curriculum design, sharing how we have created a curriculum that reflects our vision, values and the needs of our learners.
Presenting to an audience that included government representatives, schools and businesses from across Wales, Mrs Bloor demonstrated the dedication, expertise and collaborative work that underpins everything we do as a school.
This is a fantastic achievement and a testament to the hard work of our entire staff team in shaping a curriculum that inspires, engages and prepares our learners for the future.
Congratulations, Mrs Bloor! Thank you for representing our school so brilliantly—we are all incredibly proud of you and all the school staff who work collaboratively to deliver high quality teaching and learning for our pupils. 👏🌟

🎉 Telford 200 Parade 🎉

On Saturday some of our pupils and families proudly joined the Telford 200 parade, celebrating with children, families and community groups from across Conwy. It was fantastic to see so many of our school children representing different clubs with pride and big smiles.

Thank you to everyone who supported and helped make the event so memorable.

A huge Diolch to Paula Roberts from Happy Yoga North Wales & Online for generously giving her time and expertise to work with Cadair Idris today. 💙

The children learned a toolkit of strategies to help when feelings feel big, busy or wobbly, supporting Health and Well-being.
In a busy and sometimes challenging world, these simple mindfulness, breathing and movement techniques can help us regulate our bodies and minds.

And as Paula reminded us, adults need calm tools too!

🎉 Join us for the Telford Bi-Centenary Parade! 🎉

On Saturday, 27th June, Conwy will come alive as we celebrate the 200th anniversary of one of the town's most remarkable achievements, the iconic Telford Suspension Bridge.

The Telford Parade will begin at 12.00pm, making its way from the Llandudno Junction side of the Cob, marching down the road of the Cob and then finishing on the Quay, where the celebrations will continue.

Led by the Menai Bridge Band, the Town Council, and visiting dignitaries, and featuring uniformed service groups, local organisations, community groups, flags, bunting, and much more, the parade promises to be a colourful and memorable spectacle for all ages.
We would love to see residents and visitors lining the route to cheer on the participants and be part of this special day. Come along, show your support, and help us celebrate an important chapter in Conwy's history.

Whether you have a connection to the bridge, an interest in local history, or simply want to enjoy a fantastic community event, this is a celebration not to be missed.
