🍂 Autumn has arrived across our Kids Planet nurseries!

A little mud can lead to some brilliant discoveries! 🌱🤎

We’re Saying Yes to Mud this week, giving children plenty of opportunities to get stuck in, explore and use their imaginations.

From mixing muddy pies to discovering what happens when soil meets water, there’s so much to investigate through play. Our educators follow the children’s curiosity, encouraging them to experiment, ask questions and see what they discover. 🪱

Say Yes to Mess! 🎨🌿

Mud on knees, paint-covered fingers, sand in shoes and water everywhere. It might look like mess, but for children it can be an experiment, an adventure, a work of art or a new discovery.

We’ve launched The Mess Report, new research exploring how families feel about messy play and whether children today are getting enough opportunities to experience it.

After speaking to 1,000 UK parents of children under 10, we found that 79% agree messy play supports children’s development, creativity and wellbeing, yet 70% believe children today don’t get enough opportunities to get messy.

We’re calling this The Mess Gap.

The Mess Report explores what might be behind that gap, why opportunities to pour, squash, mix, dig, build, splash and create are so valuable, and how we can make more space for them in childhood.

At Kids Planet, we’re proud to say Yes to Mess because we know there is method in the mess, and behind every muddy handprint and paint splatter is an opportunity for learning.

Our brand-new Kids Planet Garden House nursery officially opened its doors on Monday! 💛

Created for employees and students across the collegiate University of Oxford, Garden House is a beautiful purpose-built nursery designed to provide a warm, inspiring environment where children can learn, grow and thrive.

We know that sleep is an important part of every child's growth, development and wellbeing. 💚

Recently, updated safer sleep guidance came into effect across the early years sector - reinforcing the importance of creating safer sleep environments for babies and young children.

At Kids Planet, safer sleep practices are embedded across our nurseries, and our teams work closely with families to support each child's individual routine.

🌿 Pre School explored stacking natural resources using playdough as base!

🌿 They carefully balanced and arranged the materials, developing their creativity and problem solving skills as they experimented with different structures.

🌿 This activity supports fine motor development through pinching, rolling and placing the objects whilst also encouraging concentration.

🌿 Using natural resources further promote curiosity about the environment and provided a rich sensory learning experience.

✨️Danielle has created a new welsh language Home Learning bag for the setting as recently we have had a lot new welsh speakers join us!

✨️We have created the home learning bag to support children’s learning through fun, play-based activities at home. The bag encourages children to develop early language, literacy, numeracy, creativity and fine motor skills while exploring simple Welsh vocabulary and songs.

✨️Included in the bag are colourful Welsh word cards with engaging animated pictures to help children recognise and remember everyday Welsh words. The visual images support children in making connections between words and meanings, helping to build confidence in hearing, speaking and understanding the Welsh language in a fun and accessible way. Through shared activities with family members, children also develop communication skills, independence and confidence in a relaxed and enjoyable environment.

🐝 Happy World Bee Day from our busy little learners! 🐝

Today the children created their very own bee sanctuaries using leaves, petals, twigs, and other natural treasures, learning how important it is to care for our buzzing friends. They also carefully made sugar water for the bees and used pipettes to place tiny drops into little shells, helping to create safe resting and feeding spots for pollinators. It was a wonderful hands-on activity full of creativity, teamwork, and kindness towards nature! 🌼🍃💛
