Did you know that attendance is one of the biggest factors influencing a student's GCSE results?

This week's Friday at 5 looks at the real impact of attendance on academic achievement here at Consett Academy – and why being in school every day matters.

📈 97% attendance or above – Our data shows that students achieve an average GCSE grade of 5 or higher, regardless of their starting ability.

📉 Below 97% attendance – Our data shows that average grades fall to 4 or below, regardless of starting ability.

🎯 97% attendance means missing no more than 6 days across the entire school year.

And this isn't just about Year 11. The habits students develop in Year 7 can have a huge impact on their future qualifications, college courses and career opportunities.

With just two weeks until half term, let's make every day count!

Our data shows a clear link between attendance and achievement. Students who achieve 97% attendance or better average Grade 5 or above, regardless of their ability when they join us.
