Homeschooling/Educating From Scratch 'Homeschooling From Scratch' a place for other like minded families to share hints and tips, get and give advice, share links and lots more....

'Homeschooling From Scratch' has been set up for ourselves and other like minded parents to come and share hints and tips, get and give advice, share links, blogs, resources, websites, experiences and lots lots more! We have been looking for something like this in and surrounding the area in which we live, and while weve found plenty of excellent pages, resources and blogs etc we havent been suces

sfull in finding anything that caters for parents who are homeschooling their children from the very start, only for those who have pulled their children out at some point after they have started mainstream schools. We have started our Homeschooling journey with our 14 month old and also wanted to be in touch with other families who are taking this approach to home education and arrange study buddy, play dates and field trips as she gets older. So if this sounds like the place for you and your child to be...stick around....there will be lots of links, hints and tips, blogs, experiences, usefull resources and lots lots more to put to use.

Guess who's back....?

Matilda asked to try school a couple of years ago...so she was allocated a place at St Wilfrids RC College...

She absolutely loved it the first year...thrived, gained more confidence and did very well in all aspects of school life.

The second year she seemed to coast along neither liking or disliking it...and from earlier in the year felt like it maybe wasn't working but Matilda wanted to stick it out and try a while longer.

Miss King, and the SEND staff were absolutely brilliant with her, so supportive and went above and beyond to accommodate her.
She learned lots about herself.

Fast forward a few more months, a few hurdles along the way, lots of reassurance, support, patience and understanding...and today Matilda has officially left school to carry on her home ed journey again.

We've been back in the home ed circles for a little while now, observing and lurking, then gradually moved onto taking part with the groups, study sessions/lessons, activities, socials etc and we decided this was the best path for her moving forward.

She is already getting her spirit back, her eyes are coming back to life and she's happy. She's made more friends and fits in.

While school is great for the majority of kids, it's not for all.

So we're both really looking forward to being back where we feel we truly belong, embarking on more adventures, more travelling, more exploring, making more friends, creating and making more memories and living a freestyle life which suits us more than the confines of school, pigeon holes and one size fits all mentality.

I'm happy to be getting my fire-cracker girl back...excited for her and looking forward to what lies ahead for us both....come along and join us.

Schools out for Christmas....๐ŸŽ„โ˜ƒ๏ธ๐Ÿ›โ„๏ธ ###

Well as lots of school children will be celebrating leaving year 6 tomorrow and heading up to their new high-school in September, Matilda will be celebrating her last official day being home educated.

She has decided to try school and will be taking her place at her chosen school in September.

She's been having weekly visits for the last 2 months and had her 2 transition days which she's loved.

Its a huge step for Matilda with her having sepetation anxiety and ASD but im so proud of how she's approached it all.
Her idea to try school, she researched the school options, made her choices and got a place at a highly sought after school.

Im so excited for her and her future and can't wait to see her grow and flourish into an even more thoughtful, kind, funny and caring young lady.

Ive absolutely loved home education, there's been ups and downs but for the most part it's been the best experience ever.

Looking back through just some of the thousands of pictures I've taken during our home ed journey I've seen her grow from a little fire cracker into a beautiful, quirky, hilarious young lady. Memories I'll cherish for ever.

Im so excited for the future for us both as I will also be venturing into new territory and the only way is up!

Good luck my beautiful Matilda....
Be you and go forward knowing you're going to do great things.

Love you so much

The pure freedom of home educating .....

So far Matilda has helped groomed the horse and donkey, put them out in the paddock, got the two goats out and hung out with Michelle and Ken the owners of the farm.

Then we watched a film together and now we're both working on our respective subjects/projects in the beautiful autumn sunshine with a hot chocolate!

This afternoon we're making apple crumble....

We love this life and are so lucky to be able to live how we like....and what a beautiful place to be able to do it all!

Wow how did 6 months go so fast!

So much has happened as a country and the world as well as for us personally as a family but we're all living life the best we can and still learning through living and loving this life!

Top many things to post and explain (I really must post in the moment) but I'll throw some pics up of a few bits we've enjoyed since April when I get a chance!

Until then....today's antics!

Wow what a busy Autumn and Christmas we have had! We spent lots of time away in our caravan where Matilda's confidence with the animals has grown immensely.....our last trip away was November and we're super excited to be heading back up early February where we'll spend lots of time on our lovely friends Michelle and Ken's beautiful farm....it's going to be fantastic seeing all the seasons on the farm this year!

December saw us doing lots of our favourite festive and advent activities. We visited lots of festive food and craft/gift markets and supported lots of small local businesses! Pantomimes, Christmas parties, mulled wine and mince pie night at home as well as a host of other get togethers....as always it's been been an amazing autumn and December filled with lots of exploring great experiences crafting and life learning!!

Christmas was spent with family and friends. A magical time was had by all.....
