Sometimes the best resources are right outside our door!

The children have been enjoying exploring autumn leaves this week, and it’s a lovely reminder that play doesn’t always need a specific toy or expensive resource.

Leaves are a completely free, open-ended resource that can be used in so many different ways. The children can collect them, crunch them, throw them, sort them, count them, compare their colours and textures, make patterns and simply explore what they feel and sound like.
There’s so much learning packed into something as simple as a pile of leaves!

They have provided opportunities for physical development, sensory exploration, language, and imaginative play - all while the children are just having fun.

Sometimes, all you really need is a crisp autumn day and a pile of leaves!

Welcome to Happy Smiles Salon!

The children decided yesterday they wanted to go to the hairdresser, so rather than just talking about it, Joelle brought the salon to them!

We have our very own waiting room complete with magazines, a hair-washing station, practice styling head and even a coffee machine.

The children have absolutely loved exploring the salon, taking on different roles and getting stuck into their imaginative play.
Not too bad for pulling all of that together in just a few hours!

This is what we mean when we talk about following children’s interests and seeing how things go each day. They showed an interest in going to the salon, and the staff turned that interest into a whole learning experience for them.
From taking appointments and waiting their turn, to washing hair, styling, chatting to customers and serving coffees, there was so much learning happening through their play.

What a lovely little salon to visit!

Just a little reminder that all of our upcoming dates and events are listed on Tapestry, so please keep an eye on your calendar. This includes Halloween party dates, Stay & Plays and other important nursery events on the run up to Christmas.

With so much going on over the coming months, it’s definitely worth having a little look through and popping the dates in your own calendars so nothing gets missed.

Good morning and happy Monday.

How is it Monday again already?! The weeks are absolutely flying by and we’re somehow already heading towards half term!

Just a little reminder that we break up for half term on Friday 23rd October. During half term, we will only be open for children who have booked Holiday Club sessions, so please make sure your sessions are booked in advance if you need childcare that week.

We’re back to normal nursery sessions on Monday 2nd November.

🎅IT’S FINALLY HERE🎅

We’re so excited to welcome everyone to our annual Christmas Fayre at Happy Smiles Nursery!

Saturday 21st November
10am–12pm

We’ve got LOADS of amazing stalls lined up, along with our tombola, raffle, Santa and plenty more festive fun! There’s going to be something for everyone, and we can’t wait to get into the Christmas spirit with you all.

RAFFLE PRIZES WANTED!
If any local businesses, families or friends are able to donate a prize for our raffle, we would be so grateful! Every donation, big or small, will help massively.

And yes… bottles are VERY welcome!
We’ve had people asking if they can donate bottles, and the answer is absolutely YES! Whether it’s w**e, fizz, spirits or soft drinks, we’d be incredibly grateful for any donations. Just pop them into nursery!

A huge thank you to one of our lovely parents who is also organising a caravan stay raffle of her own to help contribute to our Christmas Fayre!

Please come along, support our wonderful stallholders and help us make this our best one yet.

What a lovely week we've had this week.

We've been outdoors, we've started transition visits to our new rooms, and we've sang, sang and sang some more (we'll be singing sleeping bunnies in our sleep)

Next week sees the start of our Halloween theme - think pumpkins, decorations, potions and fancy dress. And of course, in a few weeks our parties.

A little note to all of our families joining us in January.

Over the coming weeks, I'll be in touch with you individually to start getting everything finalised ready for your child’s start with us. Please see an eye on your emails.

In the meantime, if you are eligible for funded hours, please make sure you apply for your funding code as soon as possible. There is a place on the paperwork for this to go.
We’ll then invite you in to complete admission paperwork, finalise your child’s sessions and days, schedule settling in sessions and ensure everything is ready for their January start.

If you have any questions in the meantime or you already know which sessions you can finalise, please get in touch.

It’s amazing how much children learn simply by watching the people around them.

From such a young age, they take in our everyday routines and actions and then recreate them through their play. This week we’ve seen plenty of examples of our little ones copying and beginning to understand more of the world around them.

They’ve been feeding the baby, cooking in the role play kitchen, washing the teddy, chatting away on the phone and even getting stuck into the cleaning.

What might look like simple pretend play is actually so much more. They’re developing language, confidence, imagination and an understanding of the world around them.

It’s a lovely reminder that their little eyes are always watching and their little minds are always learning.

I just wanted to say a huge thank you to you all today.

I always see the lovely recommendations people leave for us, but this week I’ve also received some really lovely feedback directly from parents that I don’t always get the chance to speak to.

It means so much to hear that you’re happy with the care your children receive and that you feel confident choosing us. We put so much time, care and love into what we do, so knowing that it’s noticed really does mean the world.

Thank you for choosing Happy Smiles and especially this week, for taking the time to let us know how we’re doing. It’s very much appreciated.

One of our lovely children has chickens at home. Yesterday morning, she collected up their newly laid eggs and brought them into nursery for us!
