🌿 Today’s the Day – Willow Burn Hospice Fundraiser! 🌿

A reminder that our Willow Burn Hospice Fundraiser is taking place today, and parents are warmly invited to join us from 1:00pm.

Come along and support our students while helping to raise money for a fantastic local charity. There will be:

🍰 A delicious cake stall
🎟️ A raffle with some fantastic prizes
🏃 Our students taking part in their sponsored challenge

Every penny raised will go to Willow Burn Hospice, supporting the incredible care they provide to local people and their families.

📍 Parents are welcome from 1:00pm.

We are incredibly excited to invite you to an afternoon of fun at our upcoming Fundraising Event, with all proceeds going to support the amazing work of Willowburn Hospice 💚

🛑 *Please note: This event is exclusively for parents and carers of our students. It is NOT open to the general public.*

📅 **Date:** Tuesday, 14th July
⏰ **Time:** 1:00 PM – 2:30 PM

Our students have been working hard to put together a brilliant lineup of activities. Here is what you can look forward to:

* **The Main Event:** We will be hosting a massive Raffle with fantastic prizes to be won, alongside a central Cake Stall packed with delicious treats!

* **9 ELM:** Step right up for their Guessing Games Fundraiser! Try to guess the number of sweets in the jar or the teddy's name to win a prize

* **9 OAK:** Need your car cleaned? Support 9 Oak's Car Wash! They will get your car shining for just £5

* **10 ELM:** Treat your sweet tooth at their Bake Sale!

* **10 OAK:** Sponsor our brave students as they take on the ultimate challenge—a Barefoot Lego Walk!

* **10 PINE:** Grab some custom, colourful accessories at their Loom Band Sale

Please bring along some spare change, enjoy the afternoon, and help us raise money for a fantastic cause. Together, we can make a real difference!

⚽️ Football Fans – We've Got You Covered! ⚽️

We know many of our students will be watching the England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 vs Mexico 🇲🇽 match, so we've extended our morning registration period.

🕙 Registration will remain open until 10:00am for students watching the game.

Please make sure you arrive by 10:00am so you can still be registered for the day and get straight into your learning.

⚠️ Important Update – School Transport ⚠️

We are writing to inform you that school transport will resume as normal today.

However, as temperatures are expected to reach similar levels to yesterday, and noting the lack of air conditioning in our school minibuses, we will be carrying out ongoing safety assessments throughout the day. We will keep you updated immediately should any changes need to be made to the afternoon journeys.

School remains open as normal for all students. We would like to remind all students and families to take appropriate precautions during the hot weather, including:

☀️ Applying sunscreen before leaving home and throughout the day if needed

💧 Bringing a refillable water bottle and staying well hydrated

👒 Wearing appropriate clothing and sun protection where possible

🌡️ Taking extra care when travelling to and from school

The safety and wellbeing of our students remains our highest priority.

Due to the exceptionally warm weather forecast for tomorrow and the lack of air conditioning in our school minibuses, we have made the decision that it is not safe to transport students to and from school.

School will remain open as normal for students who are able to make their own way to school.

We would like to remind all students and families to take appropriate precautions during the hot weather, including:

☀️ Hot Weather Reminder ☀️

With warmer weather on the way, we’d like to remind parents/carers and students to take a few simple steps to stay safe and comfortable during the school day.

🌞 Sun Cream
Please ensure sun cream is applied before students come to school. Students are also welcome to bring sun cream with them to reapply throughout the day.

💧 Water Bottles
Students should bring a refillable water bottle to school each day. Fresh drinking water is available free of charge from our refill stations, and bottled water is also available to purchase.

👕 Appropriate Clothing
Students should wear suitable clothing for the weather while still adhering to school expectations. If clothing is deemed inappropriate, students may be asked to return home to change.

🧢 Sun Hats & Caps
Students are encouraged to bring and wear sun hats or caps when outdoors.

🌡️ We will be doing everything we can to help keep students cool and comfortable, including encouraging regular hydration and making use of shaded areas where possible

The competition kicks off on Monday 8th June!

Students from 9 Oak, 9 Elm, 10 Oak, 10 Elm and 10 Pine will compete to become our Attendance World Cup Champions.

Every week, attendance percentages will determine who wins their fixture and earns points for their team.

It can be an incredibly daunting time for young people trying to make the right choice once they have finished school or sixth form, and our open events are designed to support them with their next steps. Our staff will be on hand to offer impartial advice and guidance, helping to ease the transition into further education or employment.

There will also have the opportunity to explore our facilities, speak with curriculum staff, and meet our Apprenticeship Team, who will be available with LIVE vacancies and opportunities. In addition, learners and parents can find out everything they need to know about T Levels and the pathways available to them.
