Villa Real School Association Summer Fair
Our annual Summer Fair is taking place on Friday 26th June from 10am to 11.30am.
We would welcome donations of raffle prizes, bottles, tombola items, sweets and chocolates. All items to be unused/unopened. No books, soft toys or bric-a-brac please. Homemade donations for the cake stall can only come from those with a food hygiene certificate, and all donations of any type must be nut free.
The proceeds of the fair are used to support our pupils in fun and inclusive activities during the summer term.

Villa Real School is an all age 2 to 19 years Special School with pupils with SLD, PMLD and Autism.
The Governors are seeking to employ a dynamic and enthusiastic Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprentice to enhance the care and support in our school, who is keen to develop knowledge of students with a high level of need.

The responsibilities of the post are to be carried out in keeping with the ethos of the school and within the agreed school policies and aims. The education, safety and all round wellbeing of the pupils and students is the reason for the existence of Villa Real School.
This job may require exposure to some difficult working conditions. For example, being in contact with bodily fluids or exposure to children who may exhibit challenging behaviours. (We also have a small but significant group of children with complex and/or life threatening medical conditions).
Training in manual handling, positioning, eating and feeding, health and safety, team teach, behaviour management, hydrotherapy and Safeguarding (child protection) is part of the school training package. Support is provided until the post holder is able to carry out the routines as part the team.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Support for Pupils, Teachers and the Curriculum:
Work as part of a multi-professional team to meet the needs of pupils and students attending Villa Real School
Behave in a professional way at all times in keeping with the vision and ethos of the school.
Work with individuals or groups of pupils carrying out educational programmes, as directed by the teacher
Make contributions to assessments, reviews and discussions on pupil’s achievements and developments
Support with eating and feeding programmes, communication targets, moving and handling plans, medical management plans, behaviour management plans and toilet training programmes as directed by the teacher
During breaks, supervise pupils
Take a full part in both school based and externally provided professional development
Work in any department of the school when necessary and as directed by the Senior Management Team
Carry out other duties or responsibilities as required by the Head Teacher which contribute to the smooth running of the classroom or the school as a whole

The above is not exhaustive and the post holder will be expected to undertake any duties which may reasonably fall within the level of responsibility and the competence of the post as directed by the Head Teacher.

The Governors wish to appoint a reliable and hardworking cleaner to work as part of an existing cleaning team. They will be committed to maintaining a high standard of cleanliness.

General Duties
Cleaning
To clean a designated area of the school as allocated by the Caretaker/Health & Safety Manager/Head Teacher. This area may be changed, depending on the needs of the school.
Cleaning, washing, sweeping and vacuuming in a variety of areas.
Cleaning of public toilets, corridors etc. including children’s and staff toilets.
Emptying of litter bins.
Polishing and dusting of fixtures and fittings.
Where appropriate use powered equipment.
To keep appropriate light equipment, machinery and cleaning cupboards in a clean and hygienic condition.

Health & Safety
To follow Health & Safety codes, Health & Safety Hygiene code / practices in relation to cleaning e.g., C.O.S.H.H., siting of wet floor signs, wearing protective clothing, using approved materials etc.
Inform the Caretaker / Health & Safety Manager of damage or defect to the premises / furnishings / machinery, removing or securing items to a safe place / standard until repair or disposal to ensure safe conditions at all times.
Reporting all accidents to the Head Teacher.
The cleaning and caretaking staff are expected to provide mutual assistance in the moving of furniture and equipment so as to enable each to carry out their respective duties.
Any other duties as the Head Teacher may reasonably request from time to time.
Villa Real is a school for children with severe, profound multiple leaning difficulties, autism and challenging behaviour.

This year's School Sports Day will take place on Monday 22nd June from 9.45am - 2.45pm. The focus this year will be on the Special Olympics and MATP. More information including a class rota and timetabled activity list to follow after half-term.
We are supporting the Bradley Lowery Foundation on our Sports Day and pupils, staff and parents are encouraged to wear football shirts for the day. There is no obligation to donate any money, but people can donate if they wish.

Three new bus services are launching across County Durham to help visitors and residents explore its key attractions.
The Durham Explorer services will run on weekends and bank holidays between 23 May and 31 August this year.
Each service will connect Durham City to a range of visitor destinations including Locomotion; Ushaw Historic House, Chapels and Gardens; Beamish, The Living Museum of the North; The Auckland Project; Raby Castle, Park and Gardens; The Bowes Museum; and High Force Waterfall; with many venues also offering discounts to those who arrive by bus.
The new Durham Explorer buses, operated by Northstar, are:
The Durham Dales Explorer (873) which runs from Durham City to The Auckland Project; Raby Castle, Park and Gardens; Barnard Castle; The Bowes Museum and High Force Waterfall.
