Our KS2 runners had an excellent afternoon attending the annual cross country run, hosted by The Lakes School Windermere UK

All our runners came home with a PB, including 2nd and 6th place for our Year 5/6 girls and 5 top 20 finishes for our Year 5/6 boys!

We are so very proud of them all. Huge credit also to our Year 3 children who ran their socks off for their first run, we look forward to taking you next year!

Well done everyone 👏🏻 and huge thanks to Miss Jeffrey for organising!

A glimpse in to Class 2 🤩
-In English, we are reading the story of ‘Ravi’s Roar’. Today, the children all used their story maps to retell the story to the rest of the class 😁
-In Maths, the children are using tens frames to represent numbers.
-In Science, we started our topic off with looking at body parts of humans and animals!

Class 2 - In art we are learning all about lines! Curly, zig zag, curved, wavy to name a few. The artists we are studying are called Paul Klee and Bridget Riley and the children have used some amazing vocabulary to describe Bridget Riley’s work - ‘hypnotising’ and ‘illusion’ 👏🏻

Mark making on a small and large scale and last week we took our mark making tools on a walk to a variety of music!
Next week we tackle shapes in pictures! 🤩

EYFS - Maths has been all about Number Blocks, smallest, biggest, longest, shortest and lightest, heaviest this week. The children met Muddles the puppet and they helped him learn to count things he can’t see, like a drum beat. 🪘
We’re continuing our understanding of emotions, have read Colour Monsters then Angry Cookie by Laura Dockrill, and used similes to describe how someone may be feeling. Such as, he is angry, his face is as red as an apple. He was nervous. His legs wobbled like jelly. We’ve listened to music to inspire mark making and been very creative making models.

Reception to year 6 all participated in a special The Montane Lakeland 50 & 100 event this afternoon. Jahn and Jessica from Epic Kidz Charity led an assembly talking about the route, equipment and the characteristics a person would need to take part in such an epic race. They kindly donated a framed map of the route too.😊 🙏
Children were invited to run outside and complete the distance as a combined total. Everyone really pushed themselves to do their best and were awarded with a medal and buff at the end. What a fantastic prize, well done everyone and a massive big thank you to Epic Kidz Charity🥇
