Baby bakers 🧑🏻🍳🍪
”tap, mix & roll” The key words used as our littlest bakers made their own under the sea biscuit.
The activity provided opportunities to strengthen fine motor skills through mixing , rolling and shaping . They each helped mix the ingredients and took turns to scoop the mixture.
We hope they have as much fun tasting them as much as they did making them.
I wonder what tasty treats baby room will create during next weeks enrichment group.
Well done Baby room. 🤩🧑🏻🍳🍪

Today was a very special day for Astbury , as we launched our first daily mile in the local community.
We safely walked to our planned destination along the foot path and to the water tower, observing the world around us and talking about what we could see and hear.
The preschool children have a focus of shape and size this week , so each child had a shape finder to locate shapes in our environment. We spotted “circles” “squares” and rectangles. One child said “the water tower is a circle”
This lead us on to exploring the trees around us as the children had noticed fruits growing. We spoke about the weather and how that would help the trees as we then paused to have our own refreshments.
The children took great delight in finding 3 snails and could link the snails shell to a circle shape with spiral pattern.
We stopped to pause as the children discussed the colours of the flowers that they could see in our neighbours gardens.
We made our way back to nursery and then observed a bus which the children said was a rectangle shape. ‘It’s number 91’ said one child.
Well done team Astbury

Our terrific toddler room enjoyed exploring the “dinosaur swamp “ and stamping dinosaur footprints through messy paint exploration.
New language introduced included “stomp” “fierce” and “swamp” with “roar” being the firm favourite.

Sunny sensory days at Astbury. 🌞
This week the children have been learning all about the 5 primary senses.
The children have had so much fun discovering the world through our senses 👀👂🏻👃👅✋
Activities have included, Scented play-dough, sensory barefoot walks, potion making, colour mixing, listening to nature and food tasting.
It was wonderful to see their curiosity, language and confidence grow as they described what they experienced.
In a world of curiosity, I wonder where weeks adventure will lead us ? 🦶🌳🌎

Following our children’s interests, this week Nursery have been exploring the topic …
🐑 🐄 🌳 On The Farm 🌳🐄 🐑
This week children have been using their imagination and creativity to help create a tractor - demonstrating their gross and fine motor skills as they stretch up high and crouch down low as they create their large scale artwork 🎨🖌️
The children then took turns to drive the tractor as we sang farm related nursery rhyme’s
🚜 🎶 The wheels on the tractor go round and round - all day long! 🎶 🚜
Some of our younger children had a wonderful time getting their hands dirty exploring the joy of planting. The children enjoyed covering the roots with soil and helping to give the plants a drink of water.🌱🌼💦
