Calling all secondary schools in England! 🌍

Your students are already doing brilliant things for the planet: cutting waste, running recycling schemes, rethinking how the school uses resources. Now they could win up to £1,000 for it.

The Better Planet Awards are open for 2026–27. Any group of students aged 11–18 can enter, whether it's an eco club, a tutor group or a few friends with a big idea. There are 23 prizes worth £6,000, and schools can spend the money however they like.

Grow happy flowers with this classroom favourite… 🌞🌻

Bright, cheerful and bursting with colour, sunflowers are surprisingly easy to grow from seed! You can also save the seeds from flower heads to grow again next year.

They’re a wonderful way to learn the basics of plant care, encouraging observation, responsibility and excitement as pupils see their plants reach for the sky.

The resource also includes a symbolised guide to aid understanding, helping pupils take part with confidence.

An easy way to boost biodiversity at your school… 🐝🦋🐦

Leave dandelions to grow. Their early flowers provide vital food for pollinators, while their leaves and seeds support insects and birds throughout the food chain.

Apply now to support pupil wellbeing in your school 🌱

We're recruiting 500 schools across the UK to join our RHS Plants for Wellbeing programme. Selected schools will receive funding for plants and seeds, ready-to-use resources, lesson plans and much more. From classroom plants to pupil-led projects, this programme is all about embedding wellbeing into everyday school life.
