Welcoming our Astbury reception children. Each child was given a bag of 'feet'. This represents the start of their journey being welcomed into our Astbury family as we learn to 'walk in love as Christ loves you'. The year started on St Mary's day in church when families gathered together. New children were welcomed into the Astbury family and for those unable to attend, they can look forward to receiving their gift in school.

A special welcome awaits anyone coming 'Back to Church' if you have not been for a while. At the start of a new school year, we welcome all the children back for another year and especially those just starting their schooldays.
Chief barista, Bob will have the coffee brewing for after the service 😄
The doors are open wide ....... come on in.
Living out the Astbury School Christian values of self-control, peace and kindness, these caring children were awarded the 'Walk in Love' award. Thank you to all of them for demonstrating our values in the classroom and on the playground.
Celebrating achievement in handwriting. Well done to these winners for working hard to present their school work so neatly.
The MyHappymind award was given to these amazing children for their work on understanding their brain, understanding their character strengths, celebrating themselves and developing an attitude of gratitude. Some great perseverance and determination in learning too!
Celebrating creativity at Astbury. The award for creativity in art, music, dance or design was given to this fabulous group of children.
Outstanding Academic Achievement awarded to these Astbury children. Congratulations to all of them on their English/maths work this year.
We have loved teaching and nurturing these wonderful Y6 children throughout their journey at Astbury School. They all spoke so well in church and shared their special memories of primary school. We wish them all the best as they leave us and spread their wings into high school.
Astbury School is so proud of our Astbury Acorns who have graduated and are all ready for reception in September. Parents and family came to an end of year celebration and the children sang so well. Well done to team Astbury Acorns. Have a great summer everyone!
Astbury children had lots of fun at the end of year disco! The conga line disappeared out onto the playground - as is the tradition! Great to have the younger and older children back together for a dance, chat and snacks. Thank you to Astbury PFA for organising!
Astbury Safety Council delivered their summer safety messages to the whole school today. These included, sun safety, water safety, road and bike safety as well as being safe on the internet. The children spoke really clearly, had some great visual aids and their messages were listened to carefully by the children.
Astbury Y6 had a great time out celebrating their end of school together this afternoon. Lots of fun and laughter and lots to celebrate with these amazing children.
Astbury School wants to say a huge thank you to everyone who helped and attended the summer production shows and the BBQ. Both events were really successful. It was wonderful to watch all the KS2 children singing and acting. It was lovely to see so many families attending the BBQ and, despite the weather, we hope everyone enjoyed themselves tonight. We hope to have raised lots of money for our children!
Astbury School is bursting with pride after our children performed an outstanding summer production. So much courage, fun and teamwork, encouraged by wonderful staff and supported by fabulous families. The children truly shone!
For all those who use the sports facilities at CHS, and for those who need to navigate around Congleton in the holidays!
Message for Sports Centre users:
Box Lane is closed over the school holidays from 21st July. However, there WILL be limited access for residents and school users only.
For the first part of the school holidays, please access Box Lane from Holmes Chapel Road and enter the school via the first entrance gate (nearest the Sixth Form College).
Following this, the work will move along Box Lane and the entrance to the school will change accordingly (either the middle gate or the Sports Centre gate). One entrance gate to the school will always be open (this will change depending on where the work is taking place).
Regardless of which entrance gate is open, Sports Centre customers will be able to make their way to the Sports Centre parking as usual
Please don’t hesitate to contact the Congleton High School Sports Centre team if you have any questions.
Thank you.
Astbury children took part in an Olympic themed dance festival at Congleton High School - thank you to Sophie and April for teaching us the dance! Since the dance lesson, the children have worked hard for the last eight days to practise and add the props! We were so proud of their performance this afternoon, and imagine the children's delight and surprise when they were announced as the 'Spirit of the Games Award' winners. This was for their obvious hard work and dedication in polishing their performance and standing out amongst the other performers.
Just a few of the official photos from the 10th birthday celebrations for our academy. It was a beautiful day with great weather for a picnic on the field!
Astbury children joined with others from seventeen schools as we celebrated our Academy's 10th birthday. Our children formed part of a CDAT choir and sang so well during the church service.
Our Astbury family is so proud of our Town Sports' Team. All those who competed put in so much effort. They supported their peers and stepped up to take part in events when numbers were down. They showed great resilience and team work. Children brought medals back to school to show their friends during school celebrations today. Thank you to staff and parents for all your support for the team.
Astbury children in reception showing their learning - nearly empty and nearly full. This built on their knowledge of full and empty. The children were confidently using the vocabulary of capacity and were encouraged to talk and work together with their partners to create a visual capacity line - quantities in objects in order. Learning was continuing outside with a magic potion - as requested by the children!
Wow! Just look at what our May Queen, attendants and family members have been up to. Astbury May Day The girls worked hard to make banners and decorate the truck - keeping the Alice in Wonderland theme from May Day. They came away with first prize! Absolutely fabulous!
Children in Class Noah paired up to tell their story - a changed version of Jack and the Baked Bean Stalk. They read through their plans then used the playground to focus on the different parts of their stories ready to start to write the beginning tomorrow.
Transition day two. Children in Class Jacob designed shields about themselves - including a motto. There were some really thoughtful targets set for the next school year. Excellent designs too and inspirational mottos. A really delightful moment was when the new Y5 children read their welcome letters from the new Y6s. The older children had been working on their letters during English lessons - the letters were very informative and helpful.
Astbury children from Y5 and Y6 took part in Quad Kids High School. A 600m run, a 100m sprint, a standing long jump a vortex throw and a 8 x 50m relay. We are so proud of all of them who were determined to take part and do their best. The vortex certainly went whistling through the air for many metres! Team work and supporting friends was evident throughout the evening - especially during the 600m run!
Astbury School are involved this year and your child is invited to join the Summer Reading Challenge at the library this summer!
The Summer Reading Challenge encourages children to keep reading during the school summer holidays – and to enjoy reading anything they like! Children aged 4-11 are invited to set a reading goal and collect rewards for their reading. It’s completely FREE to take part.
It is an amazing way to boost children’s confidence – last year 72% of children taking part felt more confident reading. The challenge will help your child to be better prepared to return to school in the autumn. It will also help your child to become more independent in their reading boosting their confidence and self-esteem.
The library provides free access to books and fun family activities all through the summer.
Library staff are on hand to offer support and book recommendations.
Visit your local library and sign up. It’s completely free and all you need is a library card. If your child doesn’t have a library card, it’s quick and free to join, just visit the library with some ID with your name and address on.
At the library your child will set a reading goal for the summer, borrow books, and receive a challenge poster to fill in. Keep visiting the library over the summer for your child to collect stickers and talk about what they have been reading. All children who complete the challenge receive a medal and a certificate.
Your child can also take part online at summerreadingchallenge.org.uk
The Challenge launches in Cheshire East Libraries on 6 July
Congleton Rotary Star of the Future award.
Astbury St Mary's are so proud of the achievements of this young lady that she was chosen to win the Rotary Star of the Future award. She has been learning Makaton and has brought a new sign of the day to the class to teach her peers and teachers throughout this school year. She is part of the school choir and has brought Makaton into some of the songs learnt by the choir. We have a school prayer which she has also learnt to sign and use in worship each week. Many congratulations on achieving this well deserved award!
Children in Class Mary were revisiting classification today to practise their skills before applying them back into their science learning. Great development of scientific vocabulary.
