Today we spent a full day getting our new site ready. We can’t wait to share it with you. We are hoping to open the first week in October, if we are ready any earlier then we will update on here. We are aiming to run 2 session’s a week initially and if numbers allow that will increase to 3 or 4. We are fortunate to be based at Glebe farm. September sees exciting time of change.

September sees
Little ones start school
As weather becomes cool

Plants drop their seeds
As they change their needs

Some die right to the root
Whilst others sleep until they shoot

Busy animals scuttle around
Collecting berries and seeds from all around

Some build homes for warmth and shelter
Whilst little bees whizz like helter skelters

Embrace the changes that September brings
As just around the corner it will soon be spring!

When these changes start to appear
Celebrate this nature year!

A little nature poem written for Forest Totz🌿

At Forest Totz we provide a safe space for children and adults to learn through nature, connect with the great outdoors and most importantly have fun. Feedback tells us that parents equally enjoy our nature activities as much as the children.

When the world feels unmanageable we always have the natural world to turn to. Studies show that when it's beautiful around you the body calms down and in turn functions better.

Nature is a healer.

Forest Totz @ Glebe Farm.
Hello Parents and Carers
Just wondering if YOU can give me some feedback please and take the time to read my post... Thank you!
In 2016 I started a little group called Forest Totz, an fun outdoor group for parents and children. My passion is teaching (I've been a primary teacher for 22 years) and nature (I'm a forest school teacher) I LOVE inspiring others to be outdoors with their children it’s great for nature connection, mental health and well-being, social and communication skills and having lots of fun with new friends.

I’ve got a new venue in Congleton that will open as soon as the site is ready. It’s going to be a fantastic location it will include fun activities outdoors, art and craft, outdoor cooking, singing, story time and learning about nature too in a fun way all outdoors in a lovely setting.

If your interested please can you take time to think about what day and time you would like to attend, the age of your children etc

Things I would like feedback on if you fancy coming along?

1. What day would work well and times?
(It can’t be Monday and Tuesday as I teach those days)

2. What age are your children?

3. What activities do your children enjoy?

4. Should I avoid a certain day or time to avoid clashing with other popular groups or activities? My group is aimed at babies to children starting school.

5. This would be a weekly group so parents and children csn mske new friends, build relationships.

6. What else would you like?

7. Would you bring older children to a group after school?

Thank you for reading... If you would come along please can you let me know the age of your children, suitable day, any feedback greatly received. Add on here or private message me. Thank you!

I can still remember my best teacher. He stood out from the crowd and was wonderful at creating exciting learning opportunities at the drop of a hat. As a child in his class, I was always in “the learning zone” excited to find out what our next lesson was. We spent hours outside, we played in the snow, made igloos and did science investigations with real things. He grasped every opportunity by the hands. During story time we sat on the carpet excited to find out what the next chapter and adventure was all about.

Children spend hours at school but they also learn vast amounts from their time at home with parents. It’s crucial that we provide the best role models for our children so that they are able to grasp ever opportunity with both hands. Enrich your time at home with simple tasks, don’t let them waste away hours on iPads or watching Netflix. Encourage free play, art and craft, playing outside and going for walks. Provide books for enquiry and discussion. So many children arrive in nursery and school deprived of the relevant social interaction and age appropriate speech and language skills. Use your time wisely, provide exciting opportunities for play as this opens the door to a world of excitement. Time flies and before you know it they are starting high school and then adulthood.

Creating those exciting learning environments during the early years are crucial. They help shape your child, initiate adventure and ignite the fire 🔥 in a child’s belly.

Hello February…. it was hailing today and I started to think about all our little Forest Totz! What have you all been up to? We have really missed you all! Today I was thinking about embracing the cold, crisp weather, catching hail on my tongue and exploring the outdoors whilst being wrapped up warm. In wintertime we tend to spend more time indoors, keeping wrapped up, the but good news is, the days are getting longer and lighter which means spring is around the corner! Yipeeee…
