Hello and welcome to my tutoring page! Thank-you for taking the time to browse my tutoring page.

My name is Siân Robinson and I have studied Social Sciences for eight years. At Bangor University, I achieved an MA Sociology with Criminology, and a BA (Hons) Sociology and Criminology and Criminal Justice. Before that, I studied A-Levels in Sociology, Health and Social Care and English Language.

I’ve been terrible on social media for the past 6 months, so what better way to re-introduce myself than jumping on this cute trend!

6 months ago I got promoted to a head of department role and let me tell you, it had been FULL ON😅

Follow me whilst I (try to) navigate managing a department, teaching and marking (those dreaded Criminology assessments), all while trying to have a life outside of work👰🏼‍♀️

AC4.3 Discuss how Campaigns affect Policy Making

FINAL AC TO REVISE🥳 Make sure you use your knowledge from unit 1 to help you here to discuss the campaign itself and what it led to

You want at least 2 examples of each campaign type so use this same template for your second example!📝

AC4.2 Explain how Social Changes affect Policy Development

Use some of the examples you may have covered in AC1.2 (e.g. Homosexuality or Death Penalty) as well as some new examples (such as Women’s Rights, Abortion, Seatbelts)

Make sure you have clear definitions of key terms and you know what policy was created or changed (E.g. Sexual Offences Act)

AC4.1 Assess how theories influence policy development📝

You need to identify what theory/theories have influenced the policy and consider does the policy work

AC2.3 Describe Sociological Theories / AC3.2 Evaluation

Remember to be clear on the description of each, if you get them mixed up you risk not achieving any marks for the question!📝

For evaluation, consider strengths & weaknesses as well as how effective the theory is🧠

AC2.2 Describe Individualistic Theories and AC3.2 Evaluation

Learning, Psychodynamic and Psychological Theories🧠
Use this revision structure if you did different ones!

AC2.1 Describe Biological Theories and AC3.2 Evaluation

We only covered Physiological and Genetics this year due to time constraints, but you can use this table structure for Biochemical and Brain Injury if you have done those!🧠

AC1.2 Explain the Social Construction of Criminality🧠

Your teacher may have used different examples so just replace mine in the table

Make sure that you are aware of the differences between HOW and WHY because questions can ask about either!📝

It’s important that you know how to define Social Construction as well!

Unit 2 Criminology exam coming up on the 15th May!

Use these structures to consolidate your knowledge and understanding🧠

Remember to meet the demands of the question; e.g. Compare criminal behaviour with deviance🔪
