🙌Maintaining and managing a school that welcomes over 1,400 students and 180 staff every day is a huge job, and we want to say a sincere thank you to our Associate Staff who have been working hard throughout the summer holidays.
In a summer of extraordinary heat and drought, there has been plenty to do behind the scenes.
👏Our team have been managing our impressive new solar panel upgrade, cleaning, repainting, repairing and recycling across the School, and carefully managing our finances and planning for the year ahead.
👏Outside, there has been a great deal of thought about how we use and restore our fields after such a dry summer, while continuing to protect the nature and wildlife around us.
👏Our catering team has been reviewing menus for the year ahead, balancing the firm favourites with seasonal choices, sustainability and value.
👏And even something as simple as the bell ringing needs planning. How do more than 1,400 students move safely and efficiently around the site between lessons? Traffic flow, corridors, entrances, classrooms and timings all have to work together.
⭐️There is so much that goes into making a school work well that most people will never see.
We are a well-oiled machine, but we never assume that means there isn’t a better way of doing something. We are always looking at fresh ideas, improvements and new plans, with our business leaders, Associate Staff and teaching teams working together.
We are very proud of the team behind The Downs School, and very grateful to everyone who has helped get us ready for another year.
