🔥 Year 8 Science – Combustion and Fire Safety 🔥

Year 8 pupils in Miss Haigh and Mr Cooper’s classes have been studying combustion this term, learning about the conditions needed for burning and the role oxygen plays.

As part of their practical work, pupils tested model houses with different combinations of open and closed doors and windows, measuring how this affected the time taken for them to burn.

They then applied their findings to fire safety in the home, considering how limiting the supply of oxygen can help slow the spread of a fire.

A brilliant way for our pupils to apply their scientific knowledge through practical investigation. 🔬🏠🔥

Students from 7 Westminster and 7 Glasgow enjoyed a fantastic day in London yesterday!

After taking in some of the capital’s famous sights, students joined Mrs Shaw, Mrs Helliwell and Mr Atkin to celebrate Mass at Westminster Cathedral. They then enjoyed a fascinating guided tour of the Houses of Parliament, gaining a valuable insight into the history and workings of British democracy.

A wonderful day filled with faith, learning and memorable experiences!
