Cornhill Courses The only AMUSF approved training centre in Scotland. Delivering accredited and leisure upholstey and soft furnishing courses.

Cornhill Courses was established in 2010 as the educational arm of Walker’s Upholstery. Originally set up by Elsie’s father in 1962 Walker’s Upholstery in Cupar is predominantly run by Steve while Elsie, with over 30 years of teaching experience, now takes a lead role in the educational side of things. Now in its 5th year Cornhill Courses is offering a variety of leisure upholstery courses including; day, evening, weekend and week-long classes for beginners through to the more advanced individual. They also run soft furnishings classes, canning classes and bespoke experiences for private groups as well as the highly acclaimed AMU accredited courses.

A weekend upholstery course at Cornhill could be the perfect way to get started. Bring a suitable project, learn practical skills with tutor support and spend a weekend making progress on something of your own.

Thanks again to the festivalofupholstery for inviting our lead tutor Elsie to do a live demo at this year’s event.

We hope those who attended enjoyed it, as you can see Elsie certainly had a good time!

The demo was showcasing how to re-use traditional upholstery, something we do regularly in our workshop. This sustainable approach allows us to re-upholster traditional pieces in an efficient and cost effective way for the customer.

Thanks again to the Festival of Upholstery for inviting our lead tutor Elsie to do a live demo at this year’s event.

Join us this autumn for a weekend of upholstery, with tuition to help you develop your skills and work on your project.

We have spaces available on:
📅 26–27 September 2026
📅 24–25 October 2026

£330 per weekend, with a £100 deposit at booking. The remaining £230 is due seven days before the course.

That’s a wrap on the 15th annual verification for Cornhill Courses. We are so proud of our students’ who have worked extremely hard all year to produce excellent work. This has been recognised in some excellent marks from the verifier. Student results will be emailed out tomorrow and we can’t wait to celebrate with everyone at our open day on the 28th June - see our event for full details!
