It’s with a heavy heart I am writing this post …. What started as a career break from the Civil Service quickly turned into an exciting career opportunity for me in my dream job as a Registered Childminder. Working with families and their precious children has been an absolute pleasure over the many many years. I’ve always put them first, always accommodating swapped days, settling in periods, shift patterns to name a few, as I knew how hard it was to get a childminder that accepted children around 7am and didn’t finish bang on 5pm, many’s a night I was still working past 6pm. Doing that 5 days a week and at a time a Saturday also has been hard on me and also on my family. I always said I’d know when the time was right to start putting me first and my family first, and this is it. I worked tirelessly through Covid as a key worker whilst losing not only Kevin’s mum suddenly but then 6 weeks later losing my daddy too, and not being able to see him on his last days was heartbreaking as a daddy’s girl that still haunts me, as a key worker I was straight back to work then too. Only a few weeks ago I’ve had to relive that ago with my older brother, at only 59, knowing he passed away on his own, suddenly with a heart attack, it just brought all the memories from my daddy back again to me. Life is so precious and short and no one knows how long we have to live it. So it really is with a heavy heart I needed to take the decision to take a step back, review my own wellbeing and take the decision to retire from childminding.
I just want to thank each and every family I have cared for over the years, Claire and I tried counting up and it’s been well over 40 children ❤️ Thankyou for trusting me with the most precious little people on this earth. Hand on heart I can say it’s been an absolute blessing to have not only my own children giving me hugs/kisses and telling me they love me but other peoples children too. So my last day of childminding is 30th September, which I can see being a very emotional day so I apologise in advance if I’m a blubbering mess.
Thankyou 🥰❤️🫶🙏
