We’ve had so many tomatoes this summer, and the children have absolutely loved being part of every step of the journey.
From carefully planting the seeds, watering them each day, watching them grow, and patiently waiting for them to ripen, it’s been a wonderful hands-on learning experience. The best part? Picking them fresh and enjoying eating them together!
Growing our own food teaches the children so much about nature, responsibility, patience, healthy eating, and where our food comes from. Seeing the pride on their faces as they taste something they’ve helped to grow is simply priceless.
We can’t wait to see what we can grow next 🍅

What a fun start to the holidays we have introduced a new activity to support school leavers with their transition emotions - a basket for things they are excited for... And a jar for worries. The jar is to put a worry in and once they feel comfortable to let that worry go the lid will go on.
We have fun with soft play, mud play, making potions and baking.

We can’t believe we’ve arrived at the end of the summer term—it’s flown by! It’s been a fantastic few months, filled with fun, learning, and lots of special moments.
A BIG thank you to our wonderful parents who came to our leavers celebration today, for our children leaving for school. It has been a pleasure to see your children grow and we wish them well in this next step in their life.
Thank you for the lovely cards, gifts and the lovely messages the staff have received, they are much appreciated by the Oaklea TEAM.

Oaklea Montessori nursery children enjoyed another visit to a local residential home, for a wonderful intergenerational visit.
Oaklea school leavers spent time together with the residents and staff at Miton Lodge, singing, storytime with puppets, creating a joyful atmosphere filled with laughter, smiles, and conversation.
It is heartwarming to see the friendships and connections developing between the generations. The children brought energy and enthusiasm, while residents enjoyed sharing their time, encouragement and their songs. The children joined the Milton Lodge residents and staff, to wish Sharon a 'happy retirement' and Sharon was keen to teach the children a new song with actions.
The visit was a huge success, with plenty of smiles all around, and it was lovely to see everyone enjoying each other's company. These meaningful interactions highlight the importance of community engagement and the positive impact that bringing different generations together can have on both young and old alike.
As Montessori said “The children of today will make all the discoveries of tomorrow. All the discoveries of mankind will be known to them and they will improve what has been done... The future generation must not only know how to do what we can teach them, they must be able to go a step further.”

We want to take a moment to say a heartfelt thank you to our incredible staff, who have worked tirelessly throughout this hot weather to ensure your children remain safe, well and hydrated.
Their dedication, compassion, and commitment to providing outstanding care, even in challenging conditions, never goes unnoticed and our nursery children are so fortunate to have such a caring and dedicated team supporting them.
Thank you for everything you do – you are truly appreciated! Hope you all have a well deserved weekend break :)
