New resources this week

We’ve been busy adding some lovely new resources to our environment this week, with lots of opportunities for children to explore, investigate and learn through play.

Our new natural wooden resources are perfect for counting, number recognition, sorting, stacking, comparing quantities and developing fine motor skills.

We love using natural, tactile resources that encourage children to touch, explore, problem-solve and become independent learners.

We can’t wait to see where the children’s ideas take these resources next.

Macmillan Fundraiser at Oaklea Montessori Nursery

We’ll be fundraising for Macmillan Cancer Support tomorrow, with lots of delicious baked goodies being made by staff and children, available throughout the day! 🧁

What a lovely week at Oaklea Montessori.

Our children enjoyed a woodland adventure, spotting trees, berries and foliage, jumping off logs and guessing how tall the trees were! We then visited St Helena’s charity shop on St John’s, where each child chose and paid for a book, before picking up fresh fruit and vegetables at Tesco for next week’s snacks. Singing and exploring helped us find our way back!

A big thank you to Co-op Funeralcare for joining our circle time to talk about staying safe on walks and in the dark, and for gifting the children reflective armbands and reflectors. Look out for our colouring sheets in their St John’s Road window!

Our farm-themed tuff tray has encouraged conversations about self-care as we help wash the muddy animals. We’ve also enjoyed reading the new Gruffalo Granny story!

Our new children are settling in beautifully. Thank you to our existing children for helping them feel so welcome.

Today brings the start of the Autumn term.
We hope you’ve had a great summer and are ready to start the new term, we can’t wait to see you and hear all about your great adventures.

Please ensure your child has suncream applied before they come to nursery, and a sun hat 🌞 I believe it’s going to be a lovely sunny day.

A few last words to the children who have moved on over the past few weeks. You have made us so proud!

Good luck to all our school leavers starting their new journeys to “school” this week! We know you will all have the best time mastering new challenges, please come back and visit us.

We’ve had so many tomatoes this summer, and the children have absolutely loved being part of every step of the journey.

From carefully planting the seeds, watering them each day, watching them grow, and patiently waiting for them to ripen, it’s been a wonderful hands-on learning experience. The best part? Picking them fresh and enjoying eating them together!

Growing our own food teaches the children so much about nature, responsibility, patience, healthy eating, and where our food comes from. Seeing the pride on their faces as they taste something they’ve helped to grow is simply priceless.

We can’t wait to see what we can grow next 🍅
