We've had lots of fun at the Nature Crew Club this week... πΏβ¨
The children have really enjoyed exploring natural paints, where they used materials including blackberries, turmeric and mud to create paint. They then used the paints to make butterfly wands and forest pictures. π¨
Some of the children also showed an interest in using the secateurs to trim brambles, while others chose to mix up recipes in the mud kitchen using lavender, flower petals and mint. π₯£
During our forest walks, the children have enjoyed spotting the cows in the field, tasting blackberries on the bushes, and rolling down the hills. We've also enjoyed observing a pair of pigeons building a next in an oak tree at our forest school site which has been very exciting! πͺΉ

Today's eclipse, August 12, 2026, is a total solar eclipse. The Moon passes directly between Earth and the Sun, completely covering the Sun along a narrow path βππ
The solar eclipse has given the children at all three nurseries a wonderful opportunity to learn about space and explore how an eclipse happens. Through a variety of fun, hands-on activities, the children have been learning about the solar eclipse by watching educational clips on YouTube, creating their own paper-mΓ’chΓ© moons, and colouring their own Sun, Moon and Earth.
The children have also been acting out how the Moon moves between the Sun and Earth, helping them understand how a solar eclipse is created. πβ¨
A fantastic day of learning, creativity and exploring the wonders of space! ππ
Please remember, if you are viewing todayβs solar eclipse, never look directly at the Sun without appropriate eye protection. πΆοΈβοΈ

πΏπ₯ We have spaces available on Wednesday 19th August for our Nature Crew Forest Club! π³β¨
If your child loves exploring the outdoors, getting creative and learning new skills, this is the perfect opportunity to join us for a day of woodland adventures! π
π Hereβs what one of our parents had to say:
βThey have an amazing time every time they go to Forest Club. This is their third occasion going. The leaders are all friendly and extremely helpful in teaching the children skills for safely lighting fires, making sβmores, using natural materials in the woods to create pictures and artwork pieces.
The thought that has gone into each session, you can see, has been well thought through, with each one being different. They come back each time with enthusiasm and excitement to share their day with me!
We will continue to attend this club β we love it so much. Thank you to your dedicated team for allowing this club to happen during the holidays. β

ππ Happy 1 Year Nannaversary, Lexi! ππ
We're celebrating Lexi's first year with us at Nannas! What an incredible milestone! To mark the occasion, Lexi will be receiving her Purple Pin, a symbol of her amazing contribution and dedication over the past year. π
Based at our Turner Road site in our Clever Creators (2β3s) room, Lexi is fantastic with her children, bringing passion, kindness, and care to her role every single day. One of her favourite things about working at Nannas is watching the children grow, develop, and become school ready. πβ¨
π Fun fact: Lexi did musical theatre from the age of 4 to 12, so she's no stranger to the stage! π
Outside of work, Lexi loves spending time with her friends and family, exploring new places on holiday, her favourite colour is pastel orange π§‘, and her favourite animal is the elephant π.
Thank you, Lexi, for all your hard work, dedication, and positivity throughout your first year with us. π
π Congratulations on your 1 Year Nannaversary, Lexi! Here's to many more wonderful years ahead! π₯β¨

This week, the children in our Incredible Inventors group have been focusing on developing their school readiness skills. They have been practicing tracing their individual names, safely cutting their own fruit at snack time using child-friendly knives under adult supervision, and independently pouring their own drinks into cups with increasing confidence and control. πππ₯
Over the past few months, the children have made excellent progress in these key areas, demonstrating growing confidence and independence. They consistently show enthusiasm, engagement, and a willingness to challenge themselves during these activities, helping to prepare them for their transition to school in September.
The children also enjoy talking about their new schools and teachers, and they are excited to begin this next chapter of their learning journey. It has been wonderful to see their confidence flourish as they look forward to this important milestone. π
