Yesterday morning, pupils from Years 2–10 took part in dedicated one-to-one reflection meetings with their class teachers and tutors. These valuable sessions provided an opportunity for pupils to celebrate their achievements, reflect on challenges, and set meaningful new targets.

By discussing their learning, character development, wellbeing, and future goals, pupils were able to develop important self-reflection and metacognitive skills, supported by the guidance of their teachers to ensure continued progress and success.

The remainder of the morning was filled with inspiring careers, skills, teamwork and and an engaging art activity that encouraged creativity and problem-solving. Years 7 and 8 enjoyed sessions, including a mock trial experience, insights into data protection and GDPR, personal training and entrepreneurship, veterinary careers.

These sessions highlighted the diverse pathways available to young people and the skills needed to succeed. Meanwhile, Years 9 and 10 continued their Present and Connected programme focusing on the vital people skills that will help them thrive in future careers, the skills that technology and AI simply cannot replace.

A huge thank you to all of our parent volunteers who generously gave their time to come into school and share their expertise, experiences and career journeys with our pupils. Opportunities like these provide invaluable real-world insights and help bring learning to life.

...and that's a wrap! This morning, our Year 11 pupils completed their final GCSE exam and marked the occasion in style with shirt signing, doughnuts, ice creams, and a well-deserved guard of honour.

We are incredibly proud of the way they have approached the exam season. Throughout the past few weeks, they have shown maturity, resilience, and calm determination, conducting themselves brilliantly every step of the way.

While today marks their last official day of school, it's not quite goodbye just yet! We look forward to welcoming them back for Sports Day, the Senior School Ball, and, of course, Speech Day at the end of term as we celebrate all they have achieved.

Well done, Year 11, enjoy a well-earned break, and we can't wait to see you again soon!

Our Year 11 pupils have just one GCSE exam left, and we are incredibly impressed in the way they have approached their exams.

Throughout the entire exam period, they have shown remarkable calmness, resilience and maturity. As our first cohort to sit GCSEs they have been fantastic role models to the whole school community.

To give them a little extra motivation for that final exam on Monday, some of our Reception children were waiting to greet them after today's exam with a special surprise. Armed with words of encouragement and some cookies, they wanted to remind the Year 11s that the whole school is cheering them on.

It was a wonderful moment that perfectly captured the spirit of Holmwood House, from Reception through to Year 11, our pupils support, encourage and inspire one another every step of the way.

Good luck, Year 11. One more exam to go - you've got this and we know you'll finish just as strongly as you started!

What do our pupils love about Holmwood House Senior School?

For some, it's the small class sizes, where every pupil is truly known as an individual. For others, it's the engaging curriculum, designed to inspire curiosity and provide excellent GCSE preparation. Many value the outstanding pastoral care that ensures every child is known, supported and understood, while others thrive through the extensive opportunities available in sport, performing arts, leadership and enrichment.
