Sports Day 2026 π
πββοΈ
We're looking forward to welcoming all students to Sports Day on Friday 3 July! This is always one of the highlights of the school year and a fantastic opportunity for students to represent their Form Groups, take part in events and celebrate success together.
Students competing in events should wear their full PE kit for the entire day. While field and long-distance events will take place throughout the morning, the whole school will come together from 1:10pm for an exciting afternoon of track races and presentations.
With plenty of time spent outdoors, students are encouraged to:
π§ Bring a water bottle and top it up at lunchtime
βοΈ Wear sunscreen and consider bringing a hat if the weather is warm
π« Ensure they have their inhaler with them if they have asthma
A quiet area and first aid support will also be available throughout the day.
We can't wait to see students supporting one another and enjoying what promises to be a fantastic day of competition and school spirit! ππ
Please check your email for more information.

We provide guidance, wellbeing support and access to additional help where needed, alongside working with organisations including Essex Young Carers and Action for Young Carers.
If you believe your child may be a Young Carer, or would like further information, please contact the school or visit the Colchester Academy website.

π± Introducing a Phone-Free School Day at Colchester Academy
From June 2026, Colchester Academy will be introducing a new phone-free system for students during the school day.
This decision follows growing national guidance and the positive experiences of schools across the country, many of which have reported improved concentration in lessons, calmer social interactions, reduced anxiety, and fewer issues linked to social media during the school day.
Students will still be able to bring their phones to school. Phones will be securely stored in magnetic locking pouches that remain with students throughout the day, but cannot be opened until the end of the school day or at designated unlocking points supervised by staff.
The pouches will be provided free of charge to all students.
We believe this approach will help create an even more positive, focused and supportive learning environment for all young people at Colchester Academy.
