We've included diary dates as we won't be sending a weekly update this week.
Hope you have a lovely half term break.
Don't forget Monday 23rd February is a PD day, so children start back in school on Tuesday 24th February.
Langham Primary Academy February 2026
Back in the autumn term, the school council decided that it would be a good idea to have names for our classes rather than numbers. They consulted each class and gathered their ideas, discussed these

Pupil's delight
Forum volunteers who helped with the recent Langham school garden makeover were kindly invited to a morning assembly when the head, Mr McDonald, told the pupils about Rotary and what the volunteers had done for them and for the school during half term. The whole school then sang to us before we all went, with the children, outside to see for ourselves just how much they liked and used the new facilities. It was morning playtime which had been wholly transformed! The mud kitchen was particularly popular!
Pictures show the volunteers and the lovely thank you card we received.

There’s been so much to post about recently…
Fair is foul, and foul is fair.
Class 4 delivered an accomplished performance of Macbeth for us at the end of half term.
They have been working with Harriet from Ignition Arts to learn how to deliver a convincing and engaging performance. Working with an expert teacher in drama means that children learn some quite sophisticated elements of stagecraft and meant that their performance was thoroughly engaging.
We have been a fan of '20 minute Shakespeare' for a number of years and previous projects have been funded by our PTA (Friends of Langham School).
This year, we have been lucky to be have been selected as an Ignition Arts ‘partner school'. Ignition Arts have
secured funding from the Paul Hamlin foundation to deliver a number of projects for us over the next three
years.
This work will go beyond Shakespeare productions and include staff training and transition projects later in the year as well.
A huge thank you to Ignition Arts, we look forward to future projects.

What a difference 3 days can make! The Langham School Project
The final day was a bit frantic at the end but we made it. Thanks go to all those who volunteered and supported Forum in delivering the project. Over 50 different people helped (Rotarians, parents, friends, staff, etc) - some giving up 3 days of their time. The school are truly delighted!

Final day of outdoor learning development project
The Forum Rotary Club of Colchester have led a huge project to transform three outdoor learning spaces in our school. Not only did their members run events and complete grant applications to raise the required funding for the project, but an army of Rotarian
volunteers turned up to lend a hand in bringing our plans to life.
Three distinct areas were chosen for the project: the Early Years outdoor classroom; the school garden; and
installing a new sensory garden in the front playground. Volunteers from the Rotary Club were joined by members of the school community to complete the
project over three days.
A sneak peak at some of the incredible work the Rotarian volunteers have achieved. There was an air of 'Groundforce' or 'DIY SOS' at our school and we are extremely grateful to all who got involved…

Outdoor Project - Day 2
Another excellent day - lots of painting and planting plus digging and laying of woodland paths, building raised beds and stripping of roofs. The tee-pee was transported to its final home which was an adventure in itself!
Over 25 people again including 11 Rotarians on site which was truly amazing. Despite the persistent showers, a tremendous amount of work was completed and we are on schedule hopefully to finish tomorrow evening.
We sre so excited to see the finished areas. We can’t thank all the volunteers for their incredible hard work…
