Today we have followed the children's interests, creating a bug hunt pond, the children have love finding bugs in the garden and we brought a lovely sensory gloop into the mix.
In the home corner we expanded our play with some real food boxes, we had the tills and shopping baskets and the children loved serving each other the things they find in tesco.
We explored our fine motor skills with playdough mats giving the children challenges to roll up apples to go on the trees or make the person a face. These are the base skills required to start to write, flexing those all important hand muscles.
On our craft and writing table we looked at some lovely autumnal animals and different ways to colour them in.

The children have enjoyed exploring all our autumn activities today🍁. They enjoyed tracing the lines on the different pictures and then being able to colour them in using autumn colours.

The children loved making their own autumn soup. They had lots of fun mixing in leaves, twigs and pinecones. They enjoyed tipping and pouring the coloured water into the other pots reading to make into their soup.

The children made some beautiful autumn collages using different autumnal themed craft materials🍂

Today we have looked at the owl babies story, we made a big nest in the tuff tray using sticks and puzzle pieces the children explored what would make a good nest and tried to make their own smaller nests for the owl babies.

We have spent a lot of the day in the garden again, the sun has been shining and water play has again been a huge favourite, finding ways to transport water around the garden has been great fun.

Counting, Numbers & Gorilla Day! 🦍🌿

We had a busy day of learning and exploring!

🌸 Counting with flowers – We practised our counting skills by adding flowers to stems and following simple instructions about how many flowers were needed. The children enjoyed counting carefully and checking their answers.

🔢 Number fun in our tuff tray – We continued our number theme by seeing if we could recognise some different numbers and have a go at making numbers in the flour. A great opportunity to practise number recognition and develop our mark-making skills!

🦍 Gorilla Day! – We also celebrated Gorilla Day by creating a wild animal small-world play area. The children explored a variety of different animals, including gorillas, while using their imaginations to create some lovely play 🌿🐘🦁🦍

Lots of wonderful opportunities today to develop early maths, listening and understanding, mark making, language, imagination and small-world play while having lots of fun!

Today was another lovely autumn day, we had lots of autumn colour activities and learnt lots about the change of the season.
The children are really coming to terms with the daily routines and have done absolutely amazingly.

The children got very excited before going out in the garden as they spotted a squirrel running around. We then crept outside very quietly and slowly to not scare the squirrel. We then watched it run up the tree. The children loved seeing if they could spot the squirrel at the top of the tree behind the leaves.

Information for parents:

Today the community centre has a large event in the main hall between 12 and 5 this does mean that the car park may be very full.
We advise leaving plenty of time to find somewhere to park on today's pick ups.

🌈💛 World Gratitude Day 💛🌈
Today we have been learning all about being thankful and appreciating the people and things that make us happy. 😊
The children enjoyed a gratitude mark-making activity, drawing and making marks to show something they are thankful for. ✏️🎨 Many of squirrels drew some lovely pictures about what they are thankful for some being " A pink bed" and " Daddy, me, at the farm."
We also extended this and learnt the Makaton sign for “Thank You” 👋, practising the sign alongside the words, whilst we sang our please and thank you song.
This was a lovely opportunity to get creative with our mark making, support language development and learn some new social skills.

Other activities that we enjoyed today included our pirates playdough, using our fine motor skills to make a parrot, some gold coins for the treasure chest and even an eye patch for the pirates. We used vehicles dipped in paint to make some lovely marks on our paper extending our creativity even further. And used our paintbrushes in the tuff tray to make some lovely mark making symbols.
