Starting school is a huge milestone! Our pre-school dance classes help children build so many of the skills they’ll use in the classroom without even realising they’re learning.
From listening and following instructions, to joining in with a group. They are building confidence to try new things independently without you by their side.
Many of the children in our classes often end up going to the same schools, so they start their new adventure already knowing some familiar faces, which can make those first few weeks feel a little less daunting for both children and parents.
One of the best parts of teaching this age group is watching their confidence grow over time.
If you’d like to help your little one build confidence and independence before starting school, let’s get them booked in for a trial.
Send us a message, we’d love to chat with you.

Meet the Team 👋
Hi, I’m Sam. Founder & one of the teachers here at Thorrington Dance Academy.
I started this dance school for one simple reason: To create a place where dance is about joy, not pressure.
With over 20 years of teaching experience, I’ve seen first-hand how much our classes help children and adults feel more confident and enjoy dancing.
My classes aren’t about being “perfect” they’re about believing in yourself, trying new things, and having fun while you do.
As a mum myself, I know how important it is to find activities where your child feels happy and supported. Every class I teach is filled with kindness, encouragement and a positive approach to teaching with plenty of smiles and giggles!
I can’t wait to welcome you or your child into our dance community.
It’s very normal for little ones to feel shy when they try something new.
Our teachers are there to gently welcome them, offer reassurance, and help them feel safe and supported from the moment they arrive.
There’s no rush and no pressure to join in, children are encouraged to take part when they feel ready.
And once that confidence clicks, it’s amazing to see them grow.
Comment below if you’ve seen a change in your little one’s confidence since starting with us.

My wonderful sister, along side her colleagues, is running 10K to raise money for the brilliant nursery she works at.
Great preparation for all the running around she does backstage at our shows to make sure all the children get on stage at the right time!
If you’d like to support, please donate.
3 of our amazing staff members are taking on the challenge of a 10k run to raise funds for our Nursery 😊
We would be grateful of any support by donating towards it and/or sharing with friends and family.
Thank you 😊

Things you might be thinking about adult ballet…
“I’m too old to start”
You’re really not! A lot of our dancers are starting as adults or coming back after dancing years ago.
“I won’t be any good”
A lot of people feel like that before their first class. Then they realise that it’s not true and like anything you get better the more you do it.
“It’s going to be really serious”
It isn’t. It’s a relaxed, supportive class where you can just enjoy moving.
“I need to be flexible first”
You don’t. That’s something that builds over time.
“I don’t have time”
It’s 45 minutes in your week, but it’s 45 minutes that’s just for you.
Most people are nervous before they come and then afterwards they say they wish they’d done it sooner!
If you’ve been thinking about it just send me a message and I’ll get you booked in for a trial 😊

“What if my child doesn’t join in straight away?”
No problem! Every child is different, some come straight in full of confidence, others need a bit of time to watch, take it all in and feel safe first.
Our teachers are really gentle and experienced with this. We encourage them when they’re ready, but there’s no pressure at all.
Even if they’re just sitting with you, watching from the side, they’re still taking everything in and learning in their own way.
If you’d like to give it a try, just send me a message and we can have a chat 😊
We are looking forward to welcoming all our dancers back this week!
We start back tonight 😃
