Someone to look up to… and one day, someone looking up to them. 💜

One of the most special things about our dance family is watching our older dancers encourage, support and inspire our youngest members.

Confidence grows when children are surrounded by positive role models, and we’re so proud of the caring, supportive environment our dancers create together.

If you’re looking for a dance school where your child will be encouraged, included and inspired from day one, we’d love to welcome you this September.

Book a trial class today by sending us a message.

We believe in letting children be children.

That’s why, at our shows, you’ll find children dressed in age-appropriate costumes, dancing to age-appropriate music and having the best time on stage.

That’s what our shows are all about.

We’d love to hear what your child loved most about the show in the comments 😊

We live in a world where it’s so easy to compare children.

Did they win? What score did they get? Are they the best in the class?

That’s never been what we want TDA to be about.

Of course we want every child to do well. We want them to work hard, challenge themselves and reach their own potential, but we don’t want them feeling like their success depends on how they compare to someone else.

We’d much rather they leave class thinking “I had fun.” “I’m proud of myself.” “I can do something today that I couldn’t do a few weeks ago.” That’s the confidence we hope every child leaves TDA with.

Every child’s journey is different, and every child deserves to be celebrated for the progress they make, not how they compare to the person standing next to them.

What’s one thing your child has achieved recently that made them feel proud? Tell us below.

Yes, the skills and tricks are exciting to learn… but underneath it all dance is about so much more.

People often notice the lifts, balances and impressive tricks. And of course, the children absolutely love learning them!

But what we see is something even more special.

We see children learning to trust each other, communicate, encourage one another and work as a team. We see older dancers patiently supporting the younger ones, and younger dancers looking up to them with so much admiration.

Week by week, confidence grows, friendships are formed and resilience is built. Children learn that success isn’t just about what they can achieve, but about helping others achieve too.

Those life skills are just as important to us as the dance itself, and moments like this remind us why we love what we do.

This is what being part of the TDA community is all about 💜

If you’re looking for more than just a dance class, we’d love to welcome you to the TDA community. Get in touch to find the perfect class for you or your child.

Starting school is a huge milestone! Our pre-school dance classes help children build so many of the skills they’ll use in the classroom without even realising they’re learning.

From listening and following instructions, to joining in with a group. They are building confidence to try new things independently without you by their side.

Many of the children in our classes often end up going to the same schools, so they start their new adventure already knowing some familiar faces, which can make those first few weeks feel a little less daunting for both children and parents.

One of the best parts of teaching this age group is watching their confidence grow over time.

If you’d like to help your little one build confidence and independence before starting school, let’s get them booked in for a trial.

Send us a message, we’d love to chat with you.

Meet the Team 👋

Hi, I’m Sam. Founder & one of the teachers here at Thorrington Dance Academy.

I started this dance school for one simple reason: To create a place where dance is about joy, not pressure.

With over 20 years of teaching experience, I’ve seen first-hand how much our classes help children and adults feel more confident and enjoy dancing.

My classes aren’t about being “perfect” they’re about believing in yourself, trying new things, and having fun while you do.

As a mum myself, I know how important it is to find activities where your child feels happy and supported. Every class I teach is filled with kindness, encouragement and a positive approach to teaching with plenty of smiles and giggles!

I can’t wait to welcome you or your child into our dance community.

It’s very normal for little ones to feel shy when they try something new.

Our teachers are there to gently welcome them, offer reassurance, and help them feel safe and supported from the moment they arrive.

There’s no rush and no pressure to join in, children are encouraged to take part when they feel ready.

And once that confidence clicks, it’s amazing to see them grow.

Comment below if you’ve seen a change in your little one’s confidence since starting with us.

Things you might be thinking about adult ballet…

“I’m too old to start”
You’re really not! A lot of our dancers are starting as adults or coming back after dancing years ago.

“I won’t be any good”
A lot of people feel like that before their first class. Then they realise that it’s not true and like anything you get better the more you do it.

“It’s going to be really serious”
It isn’t. It’s a relaxed, supportive class where you can just enjoy moving.

“I need to be flexible first”
You don’t. That’s something that builds over time.

“I don’t have time”
It’s 45 minutes in your week, but it’s 45 minutes that’s just for you.

Most people are nervous before they come and then afterwards they say they wish they’d done it sooner!

If you’ve been thinking about it just send me a message and I’ll get you booked in for a trial 😊
