What an achievement.

These 5 men have cycled from Bucharest to Comanesti in 3 days.

They have climbed the Carpathian Mountains, twice! Been blown sidewise by the wind and had to keep their eyes peeled for a wild bear 🐻!
But they have not stopped, they have cycled to strong and so fast and they have raised an incredible amount for CitD and the work being done in Romania and Ukraine.

Great work gents! Rest up now :) 🚲 ⛰️ 🇷🇴

As well as the practical work our volunteers visited Hospice Lumina and the children as Negustorului.

They have worked so hard on the renovation works at Casa Lumina, we simply couldn’t have done this work without them. Some of them came with skills and some of them came ready to learn…. Each one of them has made a huge difference.

It’s been a lovely bbq day at Casa lumina… despite the less than warm weather, fun has been had all round!

Chiar dacă vremea nu a fost cea mai prietenoasă, spiritul zilei de 1 Mai nu a lipsit din inimile noastre. 🌿
La CIAPAD Casa Lumina, rezidenții și salariații au ales să transforme o zi mohorâtă într-un moment plin de căldură, zâmbete și voie bună. În jurul grătarului, printre glume și povești împărtășite, s-a simțit mai mult ca niciodată ce înseamnă comunitatea: sprijin, bucurie și oameni care fac totul mai frumos, indiferent de vreme.
Pentru că, până la urmă, nu soarele încălzește cel mai tare, ci sufletele celor de lângă noi. ❤️

Yesterday was an incredible day for CitD 14 volunteers took on the Yorkshire 3 peaks challenge in aid of our work in Romania and Ukraine and collectively they have raised over £6500! This is way above target and we are beyond grateful. Each of them pushed theirselves for this challenge and we are incredibly proud of each and every one of them! If you know any of the walkers personally there’s still time to give them a congratulatory donation :) Thank you team… well done!!!!

A moment for our main man Steve!

As most of you know, last year Steve was hospitalised after a near fatal accident, he was still unable to walk this time last year…. Yesterday, with almost no training (apart from a 5 mile dog walk); he decided to give the first peak a go…. THREE PEAKS later he completed the whole challenge!

We were proud and grateful to all of our walkers yesterday. But there needs to be an extra little moment for .citd who won’t ever ask a volunteer to do something he’s not prepared to try!

Bravo Steve Cooper…. bravo!

Easter is being celebrated this weekend in Romania, and our residents at Casa lumina are getting right into the festivities :)
