In this heat this morning was just all about keeping cool 🥵 so that meant lots and lots of water play!
The children love to help me around the setting and this morning one of my big ones asked if he could clean the toy cars! Not only was this super helpful but it also involved lots of squeezing sponges and cloths( all amazing for their hand/finger muscles ready for writing) and also showing them the importance of looking after their things.

Wet miserable weather doesn’t stop us being outside and having fun!
The children have shown a real interest in plants the past few weeks to this morning the messy tray was set up allowing them to plant their own flowers! The older children were using some amazing vocabulary like scoop, pour, mix and grow and the younger ones then mimicked and tried saying the words ❤️

The children love the ride on toys and they are always available for the children to use whenever they want.
They are great to develop their gross motor skills and their spatial awareness!
They also incorporate them into their role play games, the favourite game atm is selling cars 😂

Bubble foam is a great addition to your water play! Switching up your everyday activities is important to keep the children engaged in their play and to introduce the younger children to new textures, smells and experiences!
The children have been very interested in shapes this week and has featured a lot in their conversations and free play so this morning I hid lots of circular objects and the children then got to use whatever they found to make their own circular artwork!

Reusing Mondays play base today but added bugs! The children loved using the magnifying glasses to get a closer look!
I currently have a dinosaur mad group so they enjoyed colouring in some cut out Dinos which then resulted in them using them for the cutest role play game ❤️

The children loved the coloured pasta tray today, scooping, tipping, pouring and filling! They also got their little fingers working by using the tweezers 💪
Giant chalks are fab for mark making on the patio! We haven’t had these out for a while and think these will now be a permanent outdoor resource!

More often than not the simplest activities are the best!
This morning I left the plastic ice cubes on the activity table and stood back to watch how the children would play with them without any instruction from me. They made patterns, sorted them into colours, built towers and lined them up. I love activities like this ❤️

Our water play smelt gorgeous this morning! The children loved exploring the citrus slices, talking about what they smelt like, how they felt and using their hands to squeeze, squash and pull them apart.
Added bonus is it’s a taste safe activity so it’s perfect for my younger children who still like to explore things with their mouth! 🍋🍋🍊🍊
