Last week we focussed on punctuation with the Year 3’s

Playing spot the difference with the story ‘Storm’ 🍁
Play-doh punctuation with different sentence types
Stamp the capital letter
And some fab word wall interactive games

A great week refreshing those often forgotten but essential punctuation points

A nice re-cap yesterday of our single letter sounds

We practiced writing formation and recognising letters
Before using our fine motor skills to peg the correct initial letter sounds on our cards 👏🏻

A slow start to the week in getting back after our Christmas Break.
But we quickly sped up with a Maths filled end of the week.
Money, fact families, times tables and New Year’s resolutions all taught ✅

Wonderful work and a great start to our 2026 tutoring journey 🥰

We’ve been doing lots of Year 3 writing work around paragraphs these last few weeks.

It’s been fun to take a look at texts about the girls favourite things…labubu’s and Stitch!

We’ve looked at organising our own writing for blogs as well as unscrambling information on Hula dancing! 💃

A great way to make paragraphs seem a little more exciting!

We’ve been exploring matching and sorting with shapes and numbers.
All to help build our recognition of number skills

Scarecrow match: matching colours to shapes
Sorting letters puzzles

Super number crunching!

Estimating

We took a look at estimating last week.
A good strategy to have when we start to add or subtract larger numbers.

Estimates help us to know whether our final answer is in the right region.

We practiced on a number line first to see where numbers round up or down to.
Before putting our estimating into practice with some column addition/subtraction word problems 🧮💻💿🖥️

Pumpkin roll 🎃

We explored creating some spooky noun phrases.
Using our own dice we rolled to create a uniquely paatterned pumpkin.

Then looked carefully to see what adjectives would best describe each part 🎃

Maths last week looked at partitioning numbers into simple number sentences

Building up that number sense so that we have a good understanding of what each digit means in a number.

Fabulous maths 🤩
