Check your driving licence!

Having an "A" on your card doesn't automatically mean you can legally ride a two-wheeled motorcycle.
Getting asked this daily made us want to clear up the confusion once and for all.

If you passed your driving test years ago, that "A" category can be super misleading. Here is what it actually means:

🔴 Do you have Code 79(3) next to it? You only have restricted Tricycle Rights! This means you can ride a 3-wheeled motor vehicle, but NOT a standard two-wheeled motorcycle.

🔴 Is there NO specific code? That "A" is strictly a Provisional Entitlement. You absolutely cannot ride a bike on your own yet. You must complete your Compulsory Basic Training (CBT) and display "L" plates before getting on the road.

🔥 Want to hit the road on two wheels?To get a proper Full Motorcycle License, you need to:
Complete your CBT
Pass your motorcycle theory test
Pass your Module 1 and Module 2 practical tests

If you aren't sure exactly what you are entitled to ride, you can check your official entitlements using the GOV.UK View Driving License tool.
