I'm really looking forward to teaching the first of these workshops at Colchester Library and Community Hub today! Thank you so much to Colchester Gazette for covering this.

Colchester Library is set to launch free writing workshops for children and teenagers.

As well as classes for adults, I also lead free creative writing workshops for young writers at Colchester Library! This autumn's programme starts on Saturday 🍂✏️

Never written a story before, or not sure how to start? This Saturday, join this relaxed hour-long workshop for writers aged 7 to 11 that’s all about kick-starting ideas and growing your confidence. Whether you love writing or you’re new to it, you’ll have fun with creative writing games and hands-on activities.

This workshop is part of Colchester Library’s autumn creative writing programme for young writers. This series of workshops for writers aged 7 to 11 and 12 to 17 takes a fun, hands-on approach, led by creative writing tutor Daisy Jones.

Each session stands alone, so you can come to just one, or as many as you like. All materials are provided and no previous writing experience is required – just bring your imagination! All workshops are free, but places are limited and booking is essential.

It's back-to-school season, and it looks like there's plenty on for writers of all ages in Colchester! ✏️🍂

I made one of these posts last month and got a few requests to keep it going, so here it is - my roundup of local events for writers I've spotted. Feel free to add more in the comments!

Of course I'm very excited about the first event on this list - the start of my creative writing course at House of Joy, Foundations of Writing Fiction. There are now just 2 spaces left - click the link in my bio to book yours!

And I'm also really looking forward to the start of a new season of creative writing workshops for kids (ages 7-11) and teens (ages 12-17) at Colchester Library. The autumn programme runs from September to November, covering a range of fun topics and even a Halloween special! I love running these classes - I've been doing the teen group for a while but the younger group is brand new. They're all completely free but booking is essential. Check out the Essex Libraries website for full information and to book!

We beat the blank page! 📃

Last night, I was joined by a fantastic group of writers for my first creative writing workshop at House of Joy. We had a lot of fun with different prompts and techniques, and everyone left very positive feedback! ✨️

A big thank you goes out to everyone who joined me, and to House of Joy for being such a great, inspiring venue for us. 🏠

If you're getting FOMO, there's still time to sign up to my Foundations of Writing Fiction course! This is an 8-week course starting on 1 September at House of Joy in Colchester, aimed at new and developing writers who want a hands-on grounding in writing craft.
