π’The Squirrel's children have enjoyed learning about turtles for 'World Turtle Day'.
Zoe-Belle was kind enough to bring in her tortoise 'Tortuga' for the children to see and hold.
The children thoroughly enjoyed feeding Tortuga lettuce leaves and learning about how Zoe looks after Tortuga at home.
Thank you Zoe for bringing in Tortuga for us to see. π’

π€© MARK MAKING π€©
Our pre school children have been busy working on their mark making and letter formation through a range of activities. These sparkly letters have been particularly popular and the children have enjoyed copying the letters in sand and exploring playdough! Fine motor activities are great for strengthening children's finger muscles and letter identification and formation is a great step in early pre writing skills! Well done Squirrels children!
In order to support your child at home with pre writing skills you could:
* use playdough to push, pull, press and squeeze
*encourage threading and lacing
*Use tongs or tweezers to transfer small objects into a tub
*try vertical surface drawing, promotes proper wrist extension and shoulder stability
*sensory tracing- making marks in shaving foam, sand or paints!

π Empathy Day πΈ
The children have been learning about empathy through books and storytelling and the Hedgehogs children created some lovely cards for the team to show how appreciated they are!
Teaching empathy skills is so important in order to build a kinder society! Our team focus on providing stories and activities about being kind, understanding our feelings and understanding that we are all different and unique!

πβοΈπ¦ROAD SAFETY π¦βοΈπ
The children in our pre school room have been focussing on Road Safety recently.
This forms part of our curriculum of ensuring children are 'life ready' when they leave us to go to school! Road safety forms an essential part of children's understanding of the world and their independence in keeping themselves safe.
Our team have been setting up lots of lovely activities indoors and outdoors to support children in their understanding of road safety. We will also be taking the children on outings in small groups to look at safe places to cross the road i.e. Zebra crossings and using buttons at traffic lights to wait for the green man!

β½οΈβ½οΈβ½οΈ WORLD CUP β½οΈβ½οΈβ½οΈ
Yesterday we had a World Cup themed day to celebrate the opening of the World Cup football tournament.
The children in pre school had a very competitive football match with some impressive goals scored!
Children came to nursery in football attire or dressed in their chosen countries colours!
We enjoyed face painting, rice play set up in the shape of flags, plenty of football skills, flag designing and lots more!
We are all feeling super excited for the games and look forward to celebrating some wins across the next couple of months!

Happy Monday!
The children have been loving the fact the garden is currently out of bounds due to the new grass being laid because its meant we are heading out into the local community for walks!
Today our baby room went for a stroll around the neighbourhood and our 2-3's visited the local playing field and park!
Tomorrow is the turn of our pre school children who are heading to the local library for rhyme time!
Stay tuned this week to see what else we get up to!
