This morning our pre school children have been on a mission around the nursery to give out red roses and cards they have made for our wonderful team for World Teachers Day!
What a lovely surprise and start to the week for our hard working Early Years Practitioners. Thank you Squirrels for the wonderful thought 💜

September officially means Autumn right?! 🍂

We have lots of lovely leaves appearing in the nursery garden and the children are already taking full advantage of this and using them to create lots of lovely artwork! Our wonderful practitioner Hayley also created a lovely leaf matching activity for the 2-3s! Be prepared to see this feed turning super Autumnal! 🍁🍂🍄🧡

She did it! 🎉🫶🏻 Our wonderful Abbie has passed her Level 3 qualification and we are so proud of her! Abbie has worked really hard since joining us last year and is now about to embark upon another journey as she leaves us next week to go on maternity leave!

🪥This morning our 2-3's have been learning all about oral hygiene! 🪥
They had great fun cleaning all of the large teeth with toothbrushes while talking about when they brush their teeth and the importance of keeping our teeth clean and healthy! This activity then developed and we extended it by looking at food in the home corner discussing which foods are healthy and good for our teeth. The children learnt that foods such as milk and cheese are really good for our bones and teeth!
We are going to pop some home learning activities on the board at the front door so parents are welcome to continue this learning at home!

Come to the Park with us! Pre School Edition! 🛝

Today our pre-school children had a wonderful surprise- a trip to the local park for a play and picnic afternoon! The children enjoyed discussing road safety on the way and were very responsible on the pathways and crossing the road.
Once at the park, they demonstrated their amazing large motor movements with lots of climbing, sliding and spinning!
They paused for a much needed drink and snack, before playing some group games and heading back to nursery.

What a brilliant Friday afternoon treat! 🛝

🇯🇲 Jamaican Independence Day! 🇯🇲

Today the children learnt all about the country of Jamaica in celebration of Jamaican Independence Day, an important celebration with plenty of beautiful tradition and culture. The children were welcomed in this morning to some Reggae music playing, and enjoyed dancing their way down the hallway- along with some of the parents!

They created their own flags, made Jamaican Rock buns and learnt facts about Jamaica such as:

* The capital city is Kingston
*The country is covered in tropical forests
*Manatees and Sea Turtles live in the water!
*Ackee and Saltfish is the national dish of Jamaica

We also learnt a lovely saying...“Wi likkle, but wi tallawah,” which means “We may be small, but we are strong, brave and mighty.”

Thank you so much to the parents who provided lots of lovely ideas and information on their traditions and culture so we could teach the children about such a wonderful country and celebration!
