🦕✨ A week of shapes, colours and dinosaurs! 🧲🔺

This week, we have been exploring the world of matching objects to their shapes through lots of fun, hands-on activities!

We started the week by learning all about dinosaurs 🦖. The children talked about what they looked like, how big they were, their different colours and some of their special features.

Later in the week, we got creative with magnets! 🧲 The children used the magnets to make different shapes and then challenged themselves to recreate the shapes shown in pictures.

These activities helped the children to develop their matching and shape-recognition skills, identify and talk about different colours, and explore shapes in a fun and practical way. They also provided lots of opportunities to develop their communication and language skills as the children chatted with their friends and the adults while taking part. 💬❤️

What a fantastic week of learning through play! 🌈👏

🌟 Happy 3 Year Work Anniversary, Georgia! 🌟

Today we celebrate Georgia’s 3 amazing years at Chestnut House! 💐

Since joining us in 2023, Georgia has shown incredible dedication, passion, and commitment to her role. Throughout her journey, she has achieved so much — completing her level 3 qualification, progressing to become a Room Manager, and now taking on her role
as a Senior, supporting Kelly and Kirsty with the running of the setting. ✨

Georgia’s growth and development have been truly inspiring, and we are so proud of everything she has achieved. Her hard work, kindness, and willingness to support both the team and our residents make her a valued and much-loved member of the Chestnut House
family. 💖

🏴‍☠️⚓ “Yo ho, a pirate’s life for me!” 🦜💰

Last week in Ducklings, we’ve been celebrating Pirate Day with lots of exciting pirate-themed fun! ☠️

💰 We searched for hidden pirate treasure in the sand, discovering coins, treasure chests, pirate ships and even some cheeky parrots! 🦜 The children showed lots of curiosity and excitement as they explored.

🎨 We also got creative making our very own pirate ships using paper plates, sponges and handprints. The children were so proud of their creations and loved taking them home to show their families! ❤️

📖 We finished off our adventures with some pirate-themed story time, enjoying ‘That’s Not My Pirate’ and exploring all the different textures.

What a fantastic week of treasure hunts, creativity and pirate fun! 🏴‍☠️💰

🍂🍁 Puffins Explore Autumn! 🍁🍂

This week, our Puffins have been enjoying lots of fun autumn-themed activities as part of our Sign of the Week – Autumn. 🍂

The children had a wonderful time exploring and talking about the different textures of autumn leaves. 🍁 They discovered that some leaves were smooth, rough, furry and bumpy, using their senses to explore and compare them. 👋✨

We then got creative and used the leaves to create our very own beautiful leaf paintings! 🎨🍂

It was lovely to see the children getting stuck in, exploring, creating and having lots of fun along the way. 🥰

🌊🐙 Under the Sea with Hummingbirds! 🐳🐬

This week in Hummingbirds, we’ve been diving into the wonderful world of sea animals and exploring what creatures live beneath the waves! 🌊💙

Our tuff tray was transformed into an exciting underwater world, featuring lots of sea animals including octopuses, whales and dolphins. 🐙🐳🐬

The children each chose their favourite animal from a selection to decorate. 🎨✨ As we created, we talked about the different colours, shapes and features of each animal, including whether they have fins and what makes them special.

We’ve had lots of fun learning, creating and discovering together! 🥰🌊🐠

🌾🍂 Harvest Festival Donations 🍂🌾

As part of our Harvest Festival celebrations, we would be very grateful for any donations of dried food goods. 🥫💛

Anything you are able to contribute would be greatly appreciated and will help us support our Harvest collection. Every little bit makes a difference! 😊

♻️🌍 Puffins Celebrate Recycling Week! 🌍♻️

Last week, our Puffins have been learning all about the importance of recycling and looking at how we can give everyday items a new lease of life! 💚

We had lots of fun recycling food packaging and transforming it into our very own beautiful works of art 🎨✨

The children got super creative using a variety of materials, including tissue paper, sticks, craft feathers and craft minibeasts 🪶🌿🐞

And, of course, we had lots of fun with the glue too! 😄🤭

It was wonderful to see everyone getting stuck in, using their imaginations and creating something unique while learning about how we can all help look after our planet. 🌎💚

👀✨ A little look into preschool so far this week! 🦕🌈

We’ve been busy learning, exploring and having lots of fun! 💛

🧚‍♀️ We’ve enjoyed some fairytale fun, using our imaginations and getting lost in magical stories.

🍂 We’ve been talking all about the changing seasons, noticing the signs of autumn and discussing what happens as the seasons change.

🦖 Our ‘Worrysauras’ dinosaur house has been a lovely way to explore our feelings and talk about our worries in a fun and age-appropriate way.

🤏 We’ve also been developing those important fine motor skills, practising using pincer tweezers and enjoying some sticker activities. These little activities help to strengthen the muscles and coordination needed for everyday skills such as writing and using scissors.

Lots of learning, lots of smiles and plenty of fun along the way! 😁🌈🦕✨
