🌟 Celebrating 3 Wonderful Years with Jess! 🌟

Today we're celebrating a very special milestone for Jess, our fantastic Ducklings Room Leader, who has been part of the Chestnut House Kindergarten family for 3 years! πŸŽ‰πŸ’™

Over the last three years, Jess has shown incredible dedication, care, and passion in supporting the children, families, and team. As our Ducklings Room Leader, Jess creates a warm, nurturing, and engaging environment where children can thrive, learn, and grow with confidence.

Thank you, Jess, for your hard work, commitment, and the positive impact you make every single day. Your enthusiasm and leadership are truly valued, and we are so grateful to have you as part of our team.

🐚✨ Exploring Shells in Pre-School! ✨🐚

The children in Pre-School had a wonderful time exploring the fascinating world of shells! They enjoyed investigating the different textures, shapes, and patterns, using their senses to discover what made each shell unique. πŸ’™

The children loved holding shells to their ears and sharing their thoughts that they could β€œlisten to the ocean” 🌊. We talked about the word β€˜shell’ and practised the β€˜sh’ sound, supporting our early communication, language, and phonics skills. We also enjoyed tracing the word and practising our mark-making. ✏️

The children shared their ideas about where we might find shells, including β€œthe beach”, β€œthe water”, and β€œthe garden”. We explored different textures too, comparing rough and smooth shells and using descriptive words to talk about how they felt. 🐚

To finish our activity, we used clay to create our very own shell fossils by pressing our chosen shells into the clay to make beautiful patterns and imprints. 🎨✨

🍽️✨ Encouraging Independence Through Self-Serving ✨🍽️

At our nursery, we encourage children to develop their independence through self-serving during mealtimes. πŸ’š

Self-serving gives children the opportunity to make choices, build confidence, and develop important life skills. By serving their own food, pouring their own drinks, and deciding how much they would like, children begin to understand their own needs while developing independence and responsibility. 🌱

These experiences also support physical development as children practise coordination, control, and careful movements while using utensils and serving equipment. They learn to take turns, share with others, and develop positive social skills around mealtimes. πŸ₯„

Mealtimes are a valuable learning opportunity where children can build confidence, try new foods, and develop a healthy relationship with food in a relaxed and supportive environment. 🍎

🚧🧱 The Importance of Outdoor Construction Play 🧱🚧

Our outdoor construction area is much more than just a place to buildβ€”it’s a space where imagination, creativity, and learning come together! 🌿✨

As children lift, carry, stack, and balance different materials, they are developing their gross and fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and physical strength. Every tower, bridge, or obstacle course they create encourages them to think critically, solve problems, and explore new ideas. πŸ—οΈ

Construction play also supports important social skills. Children learn to work together, share ideas, take turns, and communicate as they plan and build alongside their friends. These experiences help to build confidence, resilience, and teamwork. πŸ’›

Being outdoors adds even more opportunities for learning. With plenty of space to create on a larger scale, children can investigate balance, shape, size, and measurement while connecting with the natural environment. πŸŒ³πŸ“

At our nursery, we value the power of play-based learning, and our outdoor construction area gives children the freedom to explore, experiment, and bring their imaginations to lifeβ€”one brick at a time! 🏑✨
