🍂 We've gone autumnal
Today we enjoyed bead threading using autumn colours and creating patterns, we decorated a felt tree focusing on colours and the shapes of leaves and we painted pinecones using acrylic brush pens.

This week I said goodbye to a family who I have cared for from the very beginning of my childminding career (that's over 5 years). It's been lovely to build those relationships, especially for our children. There were a few tears from my eldest as she finally understood that she wouldn't see them again, or at least as often. I'm always grateful for the children I welcome to our home, knowing they feel safe and happy and have the room to grow into a curious, resilient and independent person ☺️

🍌🧑‍🍳🍫 I had a request from one of my mindees to do some baking, so we did 😊 The children measured, poured, squeezed, tipped, stirred and scooped their own white chocolate banana loaf cups 🍪 They came out brilliantly and we're an enjoyable afternoon snack for us all!

Happy Monday!
🎶🎵We attended Woodland View Care Home - Barchester Healthcare for another lovely Story Imagin-ory Colchester South and West session with Becky! We were joined by other minded children and their childminders for a music themed session. As always the water activities were extremely popular! The children created their own shaker by filling bottles with pasta and rice, some lovely hand/eye coordination and pincer grips being displayed! The children and residents are already looking forward to the next session... Halloween! 🎃

🧸It was National Teddy Bear Day on Wednesday so we spent the morning having a picnic with our teddies and got round to using one of the mystery Perry bags from Perry's Woodcraft which the children enjoyed. We 'drank' lots of tea and 'ate' lots of cake! A lovely day 😊

☀️ Hello Summer, Bye Summer?!
🌧️ The rain did not stop us today!

🥤We had a mini juice bar, the children squeezed sponges mixing coloured water. We filled some fruit themed trays from Perry's Woodcraft with pompoms and once the rain had cleared and the sun came out, we made our own juice using limes, lemons, strawberries, oranges and grapes! Of course the big hit was a frozen juice slushie too ☺️

🎂🎉 One of my mindees is having a birthday this week, so there was a sensory cupcake creation station set up and the children decorated their own fairy cakes that they could take home. Celebrating each other makes our little cohort build lasting friendships together ☺️

🧚🪄 It's been a very fairy themed week here following on from my eldest's birthday!
We spent the morning collecting flowers from the local area and used them in our own potions. The children loved mixing the coloured water, adding their own flowers and we added some 'fizz' for that extra touch of magic. I wonder what we'll get up to next week...

🍦We continued our theme of Ice Cream this week!

⛱️🔢 The children enjoyed some sensory play of foamy and sandy ice cream creations. We focused on numbers and counting, linking to scoops. Of course the children enjoyed an ice cream themselves too!
