What a WOW start to the school year for our Year 1 children (and staff)! 🔥🏠

Over the past few weeks, the children have loved learning all about The Great Fire of London. From discovering how the fire started to understanding how London was rebuilt afterwards, they have been fully immersed in this exciting topic.

The children have enjoyed making their own Tudor houses, investigating how people tried to put out the fire using buckets and squirters, and taking part in our very own Great Fire of Cogenhoe! 🔥 Thankfully, the fire break did its job and saved our final house. There were lots of cheers and celebrations as the children watched the fire eventually come to an end!

What a fantastic way to bring history to life and create memories that will last a lifetime. We are so proud of all the enthusiasm, curiosity and excitement shown by our amazing Year 1 children. ⭐👏

📚🚫 Year 3 Break the Rules Day! 🚫📚

What happens when the rules disappear for a day? Year 3 spent the entire day finding out!

Children came to school in their own clothes, sat wherever they liked, chose their own writing tools and even enjoyed freedom of choice with their morning snacks. While it was great fun, it also sparked some fantastic discussions about why rules exist and which ones are essential.

The experience inspired some thoughtful balanced argument writing, where children explored both sides of an issue, included quotes to support their ideas and reached their own conclusions.

By the end of the day, we all agreed that although breaking the rules was exciting, learning and concentrating without them was much harder than expected! It was a memorable day filled with laughter, learning and plenty of thinking.

🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️ KS2 Cross Country Success! 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️

Our KS2 children had a fantastic time competing in the cross-country event against many other local schools. Despite the challenging weather conditions, they showed incredible determination and refused to let the rain hold them back!

We were so impressed by the resilience, perseverance and ambition demonstrated by every child. They tackled the course with enthusiasm, encouraged one another throughout, and represented our school brilliantly.

We are immensely proud of all of our runners for their positive attitudes and outstanding effort. Well done, everyone! ⭐👏

⚽️ Year 2 Community Football Festival ⚽️

Yesterday, we had the opportunity to take part in Wellingborough School’s Community Year 2 Football Festival, alongside lots of other local schools!

I know it’s what we always say, but the children were all so positive! We loved seeing one of the Wellingborough sixth formers take on the role of their ‘manager’ and have such a brilliant time supporting the team.

There were no issues, just good fun, teamwork and children encouraging one another! It was lovely to see everyone enjoying themselves, making memories and getting stuck into the football.

⚽️ The big transfer news… Mr Evans and Mrs Jacobs were hoping for some of the kids to secure a move to Spurs, but with quite so many goals flying in during this tournament, that dream is officially on hold! 😂 So, in a surprising turn of events, the children have all agreed to do at least one season at Newcastle for Miss Noble! 🖤🤍

A huge thank you to Wellingborough School for organising such a fantastic event, and to all the staff and sixth formers who helped make it such a positive experience for the children. 👏

A brilliant day of football, friendship and fun! 🏆

🦖🪨🔍 Year 3 Science Adventure! 🔍🪨🦖

What an exciting start to the year our Year 3 scientists have had!

Over the past few weeks, we have been exploring the fascinating world of rocks, fossils and dinosaurs through a range of hands-on investigations. The children learned how sedimentary rocks are formed by creating their own layered rock models, discussing how layers of sediment build up over many years before being compacted by pressure. We also explored metamorphic rocks, using colourful sweets to demonstrate how heat and pressure can transform existing rocks into something entirely new.

Our learning came to life during an incredible dinosaur visit, where we examined replica fossils, bones and teeth, and even came face-to-face with a T-Rex footprint! The children were fascinated to discover that Tyrannosaurus Rex walked on its toes, much like modern birds. The excitement continued when a mischievous baby dinosaur paid us a visit before an enormous life-sized T-Rex arrived, leaving the room full of awe, excitement and plenty of roars!

Most recently, we became young palaeontologists and learned how fossils are formed within sedimentary rock. To help us understand the process, we created our own salt dough fossils, making impressions with dinosaur figures and discussing how layers of sediment gradually build up over organic remains, preserving traces of life from millions of years ago. The children impressed us with their use of scientific vocabulary and their understanding of the stages of fossil formation.

We are incredibly proud of the enthusiasm, curiosity and hard work shown by all of Year 3. Their positive attitudes towards learning have made this a fantastic start to the year, and we cannot wait to discover what scientific adventures await next! 🌟🦕🦴🪨🔬
