At the end of term, in true, joyful and colourful Lorton style, we bid a sad but fond farewell to our much-loved Mrs Henderson after 16 wonderful years.
Mrs Henderson has been an outstanding cornerstone of our school, expertly guiding our children through Reception and Year 1 and 2 with her warmth and dedication. She has been a pivotal part of our school community , fostering a love of learning in the hearts of her pupils , ensuring that their first experiences of school are filled with joy and excitement. From the memorable trips to local parks and museums, to the delightful nativity plays that have become a cherished tradition, her remarkable energy and inspiration have created lasting memories and experiences for our children and their families.
As Mrs Henderson embarks on a new chapter in her life, all staff, children and parents wish her good luck and will be always grateful for her significant role in our children’s lives.

The children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 had a fabulous “Camping Day” at school today. They completed activities such as orienteering, shelter building and pebble painting all in the great outdoors in the beautiful Lorton Valley. Followed by a BBQ lunch in the field. What a brilliant day and it didn’t even rain! ☔️

The NHS of the future is in safe hands 🥰. After an unexpected package of mini uniforms arrived, role play quickly developed. “Professionals” of all specialties swung into action to create an ER, successfully treating broken legs, lungs, headaches , delivering two babies…and retrieving a lost eye!! Play for today…professions of the future? ♥️

Brilliant displays of determination from all our fantastic fell runners today….always a highlight of our year’s events. Well done to all the children and huge thanks for all the parental support to make it happen 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Sparkly Christmas spirit truly shone from our Nativity cast, what a glorious gift for our audience. We were so proud of our smallest children, they were all stars. 🤩

Our older children brought huge joy to the audience at our Nativity performance at St Cuthbert’s Church. Festive singing, classic poetry and a contemporary performance of Talkin’ Turkeys, as a tribute to the wonderful Benjamin Zephaniah. We were all hugely entertained and proud.

Our Reception/Year 1 and Year 2 children had a fabulous Christmas Tree trip this morning. They made decorations to give our village some festive cheer, caught a glimpse of a surprise visitor wearing red (who’d have thought Santa would be in Lorton today?!) and then found a tree adorned with a big red bow. We persevered bringing that tree back to school and have decorated it for Christmas. What a fabulous and magical morning 🎄🎅🏻😊
