Reed's School is a leading HMC school for boys 11-18 & girls 16-18. Provides a values-driven education that inspires excellence, compassion and integrity.

Reed’s School was founded in 1813 by the Rev Dr Andrew Reed; sited in the East End of London, it was originally known as the East London Orphan Asylum. Its raison d’être was primarily to care for and provide an education for destitute orphans. The School later moved to Watford, and in 1946 to its present site in Cobham, Surrey after the return of pupils evacuated to Totnes during World War II. Ree

Congratulations to the Second Form (Yr8) pupil who has achieved a remarkable literary honour: his original Sherlock Holmes-inspired short story is selected for publication in the 75th Anniversary Anthology of short story submission winners by the Sherlock Holmes Society of London!

His story, The Stained Revolver, is set in war ravaged London in 1941 and leads literature's most familiar partnerships in a completely unexpected direction. Rather than following the well-trodden path of Holmes and Watson, he cleverly upturns the deerstalker, reimagining their relationship in a way that is both startling and brilliantly original.

The audio version of the story will be added to the Complete Stories of Sherlock Holmes Whole School audiobook which was voiced, recorded and edited by the Reed's school community in 2022.

The pupil is also a valued Close Librarian, and may well be the first current student to have his work published and available from Reed's School Library whilst still at the school!

The Week of Prayer is back, and the Chapel has been completely transformed into a peaceful space for reflection, prayer and quiet thought. With a variety of spaces, activities and thoughts to engage, calming activities and soothing sounds, there's something for everyone.

As exam season reaches its busiest point, it's the perfect place for pupils and staff to pause, recharge and take a break from the pressure.

The staff at Reed’s have been central to making co-education work so well in our Sixth Form. As we announce the news that we will be moving to full co-education here’s what a few parents had to say about the incredible support their daughters received.

The Reed’s family of schools now incorporates Ripley Court School (2-11), Feltonfleet School (3-13) and Reed’s School (11-18). All three schools share a philosophy of education which focusses on developing the whole child within a nurturing environment.
This exciting development is made complete by our move to become fully co-educational by 2031, starting by accepting girls in Year 7 in September 2027.

Did you know that Reed’s School was founded as a co-educational school in 1813? Until the Second World War girls and boys were educated together. Today, 140 girls thrive in our co-educational Sixth Form.
And from September 2027, girls will be joining us in Year 7 too! This new chapter of co-education at Reed’s returns to the vision of our founder, Rev. Andrew Reed and is, therefore, a natural and logical next step.

Reed's are delighted to be welcoming Feltonfleet Prep School into the Reed’s family of schools. Feltonfleet is a successful, independent day and boarding school for girls and boys aged 3-13 based in Cobham. Their ethos aligns with ours; they believe that every individual matters and this shapes with way they teach and care for all their pupils. They are also deeply rooted in a values-driven culture where honesty, responsibility, respect and kindness guide pupils to success.
This move means the Charity will now comprise three outstanding schools: Reed’s (ages 11-18), Feltonfleet (ages 3–13), and Ripley Court (ages 3–11), offering families a co-educational pathway from early childhood through to A Level. Our step to becoming fully co-educational at Reed’s by 2031 (starting with Year 7 entry in 2027) supports this pathway.
