This little group of violinists are still a huge part of Ruthven Strings 9 YEARS on 😱
Giving up Saturday mornings to come and rehearse, over and above their regular weekly lessons 👏

I'm not sure Keegan, Fiona, Isabella and Allegria will really forgive me for this throwback 😂 but this is why I LOVE my job - seeing these kids grow up into kind, funny, talented young adults, who show up time and time again to support our studio, and who still love music all these years later is what makes it so worthwhile 😍

So proud to be able to support such an amazing local charity with the proceeds from our recent quiz night - it was great to meet up with Douglas last week and hear about the work Diamonds in the Community are doing in the area.

If you're looking for a great day out next month, they are hosting a Zara Larsson and Sabrina Carpenter Tribute Party which promises to be a very fun afternoon (with support from our very own Aurelia Cochrane!) Tickets available here - https://www.ticketsource.com/diamonds-in-the-community

A huge thank you to Jennifer Ruthven and everyone at Ruthven Music for raising a fantastic £505 for Diamonds in the Community through their charity quiz night.

Based at Dundyvan Industrial Estate in Coatbridge, Ruthven Music provides piano, violin and vocal tuition, helping students of different ages develop their musical skills and confidence.

Jennifer recently presented the cheque alongside Ruthven Music students Calum and Fiona McAllister, who both took part in the quiz night.

The event initially raised £455 through cash donations on the night and contributions to the online fundraiser. Further donations brought the final total to a brilliant £505.

Special thanks must also go to Zoe Robertson and Allegria Purvis, who co-wrote the quiz and helped Jennifer organise and deliver the workshops and quiz during an incredibly busy week.

This is not the first time Ruthven Music has supported Diamonds in the Community. Last year, its students took part in an incredible 12-hour Playathon, raising funds for ourselves and Sistema Scotland.

Our relationship with Ruthven Music is continuing in another way too, with their talented student Aurelia providing the support at our forthcoming Zara Larsson and Sabrina Carpenter tribute show at Airdrie Workies.

We are extremely grateful to Jennifer, her students and everyone connected with Ruthven Music for their continued support. This donation will help us continue providing activities, practical assistance and opportunities for individuals and families throughout our community.

Thank you to everyone who attended the quiz, donated online or helped make the event such a success.

INTRODUCING AURELIA CX

We’ve always wanted our tribute nights to be about a bit more than just putting on a show.

Where we can, we want to give local singers and musicians the chance to perform in front of a big crowd, get some experience on stage and introduce their music to people who might not have heard them before.

So we’re delighted that Aurelia CX will be joining us at our Zara Larsson & Sabrina Carpenter Tribute Afternoon at Airdrie Workies on Saturday 24th October.

Aurelia is 23 and from Airdrie, and her love of music started with listening to artists including Adele and Eva Cassidy.

These days she regularly records singing covers with her guitar, covering a real mix of artists including Billie Eilish and Jessie J, and sharing them on her YouTube channel.

Aurelia is also a student at Ruthven Music, who have been great supporters of Diamonds in the Community over the past year. We popped into Ruthven tonight to catch up with them and meet Aurelia ahead of the show.

For us, these events aren't just about bringing a good afternoon of entertainment to Airdrie. If we can use the crowds at our events and the reach of our social media to give local musicians a platform and a bit more exposure, then that's something we'd really like to do more of.

So make sure you’re in early as Aurelia will be taking to the stage before the main show to get the afternoon started.

Back from Poland 🇵🇱 and lessons (and choir) are back on TONIGHT!! 🥳🥳🥳

Can't wait to get back to it, but first here's some photo spam from two of the most beautiful cities - as you can see, even on holiday I'm a music geek 🤣

Ruthven Music studio is now closed for a short holiday.
There will be no lessons or group classes for the next 7 days.

All lessons will resume as usual from Thursday the 17th of September, and I will respond to any messages then.
Enjoy a week off!!
