Today, 27 years on from the tragedy at Dunblane Primary School, we continue to remember all the innocent victims. 16 Primary 1 children and their teacher, Gwen Mayor, were killed that day and many more were wounded physically & emotionally. This year, and every year, they all remain in our thoughts.

On this day 150 years ago: Journalist Henry M Stanley found Scotsman David Livingstone, who had been missing in Africa for six years and presumed dead. He greeted him with the classic line 'Dr. Livingstone, I presume?’

Livingstone was a medical, Christian missionary and explorer whose main motivation was the abolition of the African slave trade. He was the first European to travel across Africa, but not the first to get lost there! This brilliant statue of him is outside Glasgow Cathedral, the city's oldest building.

Notes from the outer regions… 01/10/2021

Notes from the outer regions… Having lived in London for over 20 years now I’m always careful not to bring back too much of the local currency when I return from trips home. I’m referring of course to the regional banknotes produced by Danske Bank, Ulster Bank, First Trust and Bank of Ireland. It’s a well-worn rant that mo...

Captain Sardar Ishar Singh was the first Sikh to be awarded the Victoria Cross for his bravery, when the convoy he was protecting was attacked by tribesmen in Waziristan in April 1921.
His tribute and story is now on the Armed Forces Memorial Wall - if a member of your family has ever served in our Armed Forces and has passed away please ensure they are remembered and honoured on the Wall. It only takes a few minutes to complete a tribute. Lest we forget.
