Lindsay MacDonald
25 May 1964 – 22 July 2026
Aged 62 Years

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lindsay MacDonald, who passed away on 22 July 2026, aged 62 years.

Born to Rachel and Jack, Lindsay spent his early years in the Gartsherrie area of Coatbridge. He attended Gartsherrie Primary School before continuing his education at Coatbridge High School, where he embraced the aspects of school life that interested him most. It was during these formative years that he met his lifelong best friend, Alex. Their friendship began at the age of twelve and remained steadfast throughout Lindsay's life, a remarkable bond built on loyalty, trust and countless shared memories.

In 1984, while working as an engineer for the Metropolitan Police in London, Lindsay met Helen Batty. As their romance blossomed, the couple were married on 28 May 1988 at Orford Road Baptist Church in Walthamstow, London, beginning a happy marriage founded on love, friendship and mutual support. Through their marriage, Lindsay became a much loved son in law to David and Eileen Batty and was warmly welcomed into the wider Batty family.

Lindsay was a proud and devoted father to Gavin and Georgina and later warmly welcomed Mimi and Michael into the family. In more recent years, one of his greatest joys was becoming a loving grandad to Olivia and Sophia, who brought endless happiness and pride into his life.

Throughout his life, Lindsay embraced a wide range of interests that reflected his adventurous spirit and love of the outdoors. He was actively involved in the Scouts for many years, enjoying the friendships, challenges and strong sense of community it provided. During his teenage years, he was also a member of Waysiders Drumpellier Rugby Club. He loved rock climbing and skiing, always drawn to activities that offered adventure and the opportunity to explore. Music was another lifelong passion, with bands such as Deacon Blue and Big Country providing the soundtrack to many happy memories. Proud of his Scottish roots, Lindsay had a deep appreciation for Scotland, its landscapes, its heritage and everything it represented.

Animals also held a special place in Lindsay's heart. Over the years, he shared his home with several much loved pets, most notably his faithful German Shepherd, Kasper, who became a much loved member of the family.

Lindsay will be remembered with great affection by his family, friends and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His kindness, quiet strength, adventurous nature and unwavering devotion to those he loved will remain his lasting legacy.
