✋International Day Of Sign Language✋

This wellbeing Wednesday, why not learn a new skill? There are many ways to communicate with each other, one of these being sign language. By learning this form of language, we can improve inclusivity within our community and enhance are cognitive thinking skills.

As everyone starts settling in to the next academic year, it's time for another . This week, let's focus on some essential GCSE maths: averages! 📊
There are 3 averages you should know...

- Mean: Add up every piece of data, then divide by the number of pieces of data.
Example: 11, 5, 7, 1 Mean = (11+5+7+1)/4 = 6

- Median: Find the value of the piece of data in the middle, when the data is ordered from smallest to largest.
Example: 11, 5, 7, 1 In order that's 1, 5, 7, 11 but because there is an even number of pieces of data, there's no middle value. The middle value is somewhere between 5 and 7. In fact, it's exactly in the middle. So, Median = 6.

- Mode: Find the piece of data that appears the most (has the highest frequency).
Example: 11, 5, 7, 1 Each piece of data appears exactly once, so there isn't one with the highest frequency. When this happens, we say there is 'no mode'.

Each average has its own use, and they won't always be the same - one may not even exist. Can you think about different situations where one might be more useful than the others?
