📚✨ Celebrating Literacy & the Joy of Reading! ✨📖
This week, we’re celebrating two important dates that shine a spotlight on something at the heart of every primary school: the power of words and the joy of reading!
🌍 Tuesday 8 September – International Literacy Day
International Literacy Day is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the importance of literacy and the opportunities that reading, writing and communication can open up for every child.
📖 Wednesday 9 September – National Read a Book Day
A chance to put down the screens, pick up a book and get lost in a great story! Whether it’s a much-loved favourite, a brand-new adventure, a funny story or a fascinating non-fiction book, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
At our schools, we know that reading is more than just a skill – it can inspire imaginations, build confidence, develop vocabulary and open the door to new worlds 🌟
So, this week, we’re encouraging our pupils, families and staff to:
📚 Share a story together
💬 Talk about your favourite books
🔎 Discover a new author or genre
🎭 Bring stories to life through drama, art and play
❤️ And most importantly…make time to enjoy reading!
