🍂 A Little Preschool Update 🍂

From Monday 5th October, all of our preschool children will be together for the full session 8:45am–11:50am. 💛

We would like to say a huge thank you to all our parents and children for your patience, understanding and support during our extended settling-in period. We know the gradual start has taken a little longer than usual, but it has allowed everyone including new staff time to settle, build relationships and become familiar with their routines and surroundings. 🌱

We’re now really looking forward to having all our Little Acorns together, getting to know one another, making new friends and enjoying lots of exciting learning and play experiences as one big preschool family! 🥰🍂

Thank you again for your continued support — we can’t wait to see everyone together on Monday! 💛🌳

🎃GUESS THE WEIGHT OF THE PUMPKIN! 🎃

Our pumpkin has arrived at Little Acorns and is waiting patiently in the foyer! 👀🎃

We’re inviting all our families to have a little fun and take a guess at how much our pumpkin weighs! Each guess is just £2, and the closest guess will win the pumpkin, just in time for Halloween carving! 🎃🔪

📋 Sponsor sheets will be sent home with your child, so when you’re dropping off or collecting your little one, feel free to pop in, have a look at our pumpkin and put your best guess forward!

💛 All money raised will go towards buying new resources and equipment for the children at Little Acorns, helping us to continue providing exciting and engaging learning experiences. 🌱

Who will have the best pumpkin-guessing skills? 🤔😂🎃

Good luck everyone! 🍂💛

🎶 Calling Coagh Primary School Past Pupils 🎶

We’re delighted to invite past pupils of Coagh Primary School to come together and be part of something very special.

As part of our upcoming concert in aid of NIPANC – Northern Ireland’s pancreatic cancer charity, we are putting together a Past Pupils’ Choir. The concert will be a special tribute to our much-loved friend and colleague, Alison Wilson, while raising funds for a charity that means so much to us.

Practice 1: Saturday 10th October, 10am–12 noon — Coagh Primary School

Practice 2: Saturday 17th October, 10am–12 noon — Coagh Presbyterian Church Hall

Whether you left Coagh Primary School a few years ago or many years ago, we would love to see you there. No audition required — just come along to the practice sessions and lend us your voice!

Please help us spread the word by sharing this post and tagging any former Coagh pupils who might like to take part.

For any additional information, please contact Mrs Gates in the school office at [email protected]

Your voice can make a difference.

🔥🌳 THEY HAD OTHER IDEAS! 🌳🔥

Our staff set up bricks, sticks and natural resources ready for some wonderful construction play… 🧱🌿

But our little builders had other ideas! 😂

Before long, the construction site had been transformed into a cosy campfire, complete with sticks, flames and, of course… marshmallow roasting! 🔥🍡

We love watching where children’s imaginations take their play. What started as a construction activity quickly became imaginative play, storytelling, social interaction and lots of delicious-looking pretend marshmallows! 😋

We provide the resources… the children provide the ideas! 💛🍂🌳

🌱 Getting to Know Your Child 🌱

Over the past few weeks, we have taken time to observe how each child has settled into Little Acorns and who they naturally gravitate towards when they need reassurance, want to share something exciting or simply feel comfortable playing alongside an adult.

We use this to help establish each child’s key person, as we feel children are more likely to build a strong, trusting relationship with an adult they naturally connect with. 💚

This also allows us to build a deeper understanding of your child’s individual interests, personality, strengths and stage of development, helping us to make our observations more meaningful and plan experiences that genuinely support their learning and development.

We believe that when children feel safe, secure and understood, they are more confident to explore, play, communicate and learn. 🌈

Our key person approach is therefore about more than simply allocating a member of staff — it is about building genuine relationships and knowing each child as an individual. 🌱💛

Key workers will be allocated via Seesaw, so please keep an eye out for this notification.

🍂 Autumn has arrived at Little Acorns! 🍂

Following our planning day, we’ve been busy bringing autumn and nature indoors for the children to explore! 🌿🐝

From leaves at our drawing table and water play with ladles and colanders, to messy sensory play with rice, pasta, bottles and funnels, our construction area with bricks and sticks and our home corner changing into a fruit and veg shop with real produce— there’s lots to touch, investigate, discover and talk about.

We’re encouraging the children to notice the changes autumn brings, from the colours and textures of leaves to the natural treasures we find outdoors. 🍁🌰

And yes… messy play is very much on the autumn agenda! 😂🍂

🍂 Autumn Nature Walks 🍁

As you enjoy some lovely autumn walks with your families, we would love your help collecting some natural treasures for our autumn display at Little Acorns! 🌳🍂

If you spot any of these on your walks, please feel free to bring some in:

🍁 Fallen leaves
🌰 Conkers
🌰 Acorns
🌿 Twigs & small sticks
🍂 Pinecones
🪶 Feathers

The children will love exploring and talking about all the wonderful things they have found and helping us create our Little Acorns Autumn Display! 🧡

Thank you for helping us bring a little bit of autumn into our playgroup! 🍁🍂

📚We had a very special storytime today!📚

The children were so excited to meet Gruffalo Granny and hear all about her visit to the deep dark wood! 🌳

They listened carefully as the Gruffalo and the Gruffalo child prepared for Granny’s arrival… but when mouse stew appeared on the menu, we wondered how the clever little mouse was going to escape! 🐭👀

The children were fascinated by the story, eagerly looking at the pictures, listening for what might happen next and sharing their own ideas along the way. There were lots of excited faces and plenty of curiosity! ❤️

What a lovely new story to add to our Gruffalo adventures! 📖✨
