The race may be full, but there is still a way to be part of the day.

As the Tolkien Trail Race returns to Stonyhurst this July, we are looking for volunteers to join us as marshals along the course.

From guiding runners on their way to creating the atmosphere that carries them to the finish, our marshals play a vital role in making the day what it is.

For those who missed out on a place this summer, this is a wonderful opportunity to be involved — and as a thank you, all marshals will receive a free place in our Winter Race.

Stonyhurst College offers a range of spaces available for venue hire—ideal for hosting your own workshops, training sessions or courses in a truly unique setting.

From historic indoor rooms to spaces within the College grounds and gardens, there are a variety of options to suit different types of events, for example:
• Yoga or wellness sessions in the Jesuit Gardens
• Creative workshops in the Grand Hall
• Fitness or movement classes in the gym

Suitable for:
• Corporate trainers
• Wellness & fitness instructors
• Creative workshop hosts
• Education providers

Please note: this is a venue hire offering, so all workshop content and delivery is managed by the organiser.

Availability is during school holiday periods only.

Bookings for the Stonyhurst Holy Week Retreat 2026 — our 50th anniversary year — close on 23rd March, and only a few residential rooms remain.

The road goes ever on… and the first wave is already full.

Wave 1 of the Tolkien Trail Race is now SOLD OUT, with runners already preparing for the journey through the Ribble Valley this July.

But the road still lies open.

A limited number of places remain in Wave 2 (11:20AM), and we look forward to welcoming more runners to the trails long rumoured to have inspired Tolkien.
